Overview

At FutureCare Health & Management our Corporate Director of Nutrition Services provides strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and serves as a leadership and support resource to the facility-based Dietitians and Food Services Operations Leaders.  The position provides operational support for nutrition services across a multi-facility skilled nursing organization while growing the programs and services provided by FutureCare Health and Management. This position leads and mentors a team of Registered Dietitians as well as Certified Dietary Managers while partnering with executive leadership, clinical and operational teams, and external vendors to promote clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and positive resident outcomes.  This position also provides clinical coverage during Dietitian vacancies, vacations, leaves of absence, and periods of increased clinical demand to ensure uninterrupted nutrition services.

 

What we expect from you in this role

The Corporate Director of Nutrition Services is responsible for establishing and maintaining standardized nutrition practices, supporting survey readiness and quality improvement initiatives, overseeing nutrition-related products and purchasing, and ensuring continuity of nutrition services throughout the organization. Will serve as a key liaison among Nutrition Services, Dining Services, Nursing, Clinical Services, Speech Services, Health Information Systems, facility leadership, and corporate leadership.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with the Corporate Director of Dining Services to develop, grow, and maintain an effective Food and Nutrition program.
• Collaborates and assists with facility Executive Directors to recruit, interview, hire and evaluate qualified Registered Dietitians.
• Promotes the development of facility Registered Dietitians, Certified Dietary Managers, and team members by implementing consistent standards and measurements for employee performance.
• Conducts audits and supports compliance with regulatory guidelines, policies and procedures; recommends and develops plans of correction as necessary on a timely basis.
• Develops innovative nutrition programs to meet customer demands and promote FutureCare as the preferred SNF/LTC of choice.
• Communicates a vision and need for change that generates commitment to the process and provides resources to assist in implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develops working relationships with professional partners and vendors to ensure compliance with organizational goals and contracts.
• Analyzes nutritional data and system information to identify opportunities for improvement related to key indicators in food and nutrition services.
• Other duties and projects assigned to improve Nutrition services.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, clinical guidance, and operational support to a team of approximately 20 Registered Dietitians across multiple skilled nursing facilities.
• Promote clinical excellence, evidence-based nutrition practices, regulatory compliance, and consistency in the delivery and documentation of nutrition services.
• Provide corporate clinical coverage during Dietitian vacancies, vacations, leaves of absence, and periods of increased clinical demand to ensure uninterrupted nutrition services.
• Partner with the Corporate Dietitian to assess staffing needs, coordinate coverage, and maintain continuity of services across facilities.
• Lead recruitment and onboarding of clinical nutrition staff, including candidate screening, interviewing, selection, and onboarding of newly hired Dietitians.
• Provide clinical support for complex or high-priority resident needs and assist facility Dietitians with unique clinical situations as needed.
• Serve as a member of the corporate mock survey team, conducting comprehensive kitchen inspections, dining room observations, resident chart audits, and regulatory compliance assessments.
• Partner with facility and corporate leadership to identify regulatory risks, develop corrective actions, and promote ongoing survey readiness.
• Conduct mock regulatory surveys and comprehensive kitchen inspections to evaluate compliance with CMS, state, and FutureCare standards.
• Partner with the Corporate Medical Director and Vice President of Clinical Services to develop, implement, and refine clinical policies, protocols, workflows, QAPI initiatives, and quality measures designed to improve resident outcomes and regulatory compliance.
• Identify organization-wide opportunities for process improvement and standardization and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Partner with the Corporate Director of Dining Services to execute strategic dining initiatives, operational improvements, and standardized practices across a 16-facility skilled nursing organization.
• Collaborate with Food Service Directors, Dietitians, Speech-Language Pathologists, Nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to promote safe, high-quality, resident-centered dining and nutrition services.
• Cultivate and maintain strong vendor partnerships to enhance product quality, service excellence, operational efficiency, and value-based purchasing.
• Monitor monthly oral and enteral nutrition product utilization and purchasing to promote formulary compliance, cost-effectiveness, appropriate product selection, and fiscal accountability.
• Evaluate nutrition-related operational practices and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, quality, and cost management.
• Monitor organization-wide malnutrition and nutrition-risk MDS coding trends to identify opportunities for education, process improvement, and enhanced documentation practices.
• Collaborate with facility leadership and clinical teams to promote accurate nutrition assessment, documentation, MDS coding, and regulatory compliance.
• Identify trends that may affect reimbursement and partner with facility teams to ensure appropriate capture and documentation of resident care and nutrition-related services.
• Promote standardized documentation practices and workflows that support clinical communication, regulatory compliance, and continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Dietitian license in the state of Maryland
• Bachelor's degree with a major in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field
• 5+ years supervisory experience
• Must have proven knowledge of clinical quality and consistency of Nutrition Services
• Ability to  adequately  staffing and coverage during dietician vacancies and vacations
• Ability to lead, develop, and retain Registered Dietitians
• Full understanding of regulatory compliance and survey readiness
• Provide resident nutrition outcomes and quality of care
• Ensure accurate nutrition documentation and MDS coding
• Appropriate reimbursement and fiscal accountability
• Knowledge of nutrition product utilization and formulary compliance
• Ensure dining Services collaboration and operational improvement
• Full knowledge of quality improvement and QAPI initiatives
• Possess effective interdisciplinary and executive collaboration
• Familiarity with standardization and optimization of electronic clinical workflows
