Description
The school of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is looking for a Research Fellow specializing in Maritime Studies. The appointment is typically for one year and may be extended, subjected to performance and availability of research funding.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop state-of-the-art and innovative models and algorithms to improve port and shipping management efficiency.
Propose solutions to Maritime industry practical challenges using mathematical modelling approaches, including traditional operations research modelling, learning-based models, and Large Language Modelling (LLM).
Conduct extensive numerical experiments to validate and evaluate the performance of the proposed models.
Present research results as academic papers and reports.
Assist in the preparation of research proposals at different levels.
Perform data analysis and engage with stakeholders to support project objectives and effective communication.
Job Requirements:
A PhD degree in transport engineering, ocean engineering, maritime transport and management, computer science, or a related field from a recognized university.
Excellent programming skills, such as Python, C++, Java, Julia, or other competent languages.
A good record of publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals in maritime transport, logistics management, machine learning, deep learning, and optimization is desirable.
Proficient in verbal and written communication.
Experience in proposal writing and funding application is desirable.
