Description
Determined, imaginative, curious—if these are some of the ways you describe yourself, we want to learn more about you!
At TC Energy, we are proud to connect the world to the energy it needs. Guided by our values of safety in every step, personal accountability, one team and active learning, we deliver the critical energy that North America and the world rely on while balancing reliability, affordability and sustainability.
The Opportunity
TC Energy is scaling Artificial Intelligence from experimentation to enterprise adoption. We’re hiring a Senior AI/ML Developer to help Information Services evaluate, shape, and enable the use of new AI technologies, tools, platforms, and standards. This is a senior technical enablement and solution-guidance role. You will help define how AI solutions should be designed, built, evaluated, governed, and adopted across IS, while supporting delivery teams with credible technical direction and hands-on expertise when needed.
You’ll work at the intersection of emerging AI technology, enterprise standards, and practical delivery. The role supports IS by assessing fit-for-purpose AI approaches, defining reusable patterns, helping establish development and evaluation standards, and guiding teams through responsible use of GenAI, agentic AI, machine learning, and automation capabilities.
What You'll Do
Enable emerging AI capabilities across IS - assess new AI/ML, GenAI, agentic-AI, and automation technologies and translate them into practical guidance, patterns, and adoption recommendations
Define technical standards and patterns - contribute to reusable architectures, coding standards, evaluation approaches, guardrails, and implementation practices for AI-enabled solutions
Guide AI solution delivery - support IS teams and partners with technical direction from discovery through implementation, ensuring solutions are fit-for-purpose, secure, scalable, and aligned to enterprise standards
Provide senior technical judgment - evaluate design options, advise on model/tool selection, review solution quality, and help teams make informed architectural and implementation decisions
Embed responsible-AI practices - partner with architecture, cybersecurity, privacy, risk, and governance teams to ensure AI solutions are designed with appropriate controls for privacy, data protection, bias, hallucination, and model risk
Support evaluation and lifecycle standards - define approaches for testing, measurement, observability, model evaluation, and continuous improvement without acting as the day-to-day production operations owner
Share knowledge and accelerate adoption - create reusable guidance, templates, learnings, and enablement materials that help IS teams responsibly adopt AI technologies and tools
Provide technical leadership and guidance across cloud, AI, and application platforms, evaluating solutions, influencing technology decisions, and ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical outcomes
Utilize AWS cloud and AI services, including Bedrock, AgentCore, Bedrock Agents, Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, SageMaker, ECS, IAM, and CloudWatch, to support and enhance business solutions
Apply agentic AI and Generative AI frameworks to design, develop, and support production-ready AI solutions, leveraging agent architecture patterns, prompt engineering, model evaluation techniques, LLM capabilities and limitations, and MCP server development and hosting
Design and support data and knowledge architectures leveraging relational, graph, NoSQL, and vector databases, while enabling AI-powered solutions through retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), enterprise knowledge management, embeddings, re-ranking, and data retrieval strategies
Develop and deploy AI and machine learning solutions using modern development and MLOps practices, including Python, API development, testing, CI/CD, workflow orchestration, monitoring, observability, and AI-assisted development tools; exposure to Microsoft technologies such as Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Fabric, and Purview is an asset
Required Qualifications
University degree in Computer Science, Software/Data Engineering, or a related discipline
4+ years of relevant experience
A combination of education and experience may be considered
Preferred Qualifications
Proven track record directing or overseeing the delivery of AI or software solutions internally and/or through partners and vendors
Strong technical foundation in cloud AI concepts and Python sufficient to guide, evaluate, and make credible technical decisions
Working knowledge of Generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, and RAG architectures
Ability to work independently on complex problems, with decision-making authority within the role's scope
Experience coordinating technical delivery across internal teams and external partners/vendors
Familiarity with agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, Strands) and agent platforms (AgentCore, Bedrock Agents)
Working hands on experience with MLOps / LLMOps including pipelines, model monitoring, drift detection, evaluation
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Purview, Copilot Studio, and Power Platform
Experience embedding responsible AI controls and partnering with governance/security in a regulated industry
Experience mentoring developers and leading technical workstreams
