Position: Senior Manufacturing Process Sustaining Engineer
Location: Lumentum Thailand, Navanakorn – Pathum Thani
Department: Transport Business Unit
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Manufacturing Process Sustaining Engineer to maintain, control, and continuously improve manufacturing processes for optical and photonic products. This role is responsible for ensuring process stability, resolving production issues, improving product quality and yield, and optimizing existing processes to achieve production, delivery, and cost objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Optical Alignment / Design/Assembly Engineer developing manual/automated alignment equipment
- Develop associated optical component attach processes (e.g., lenses, mirrors, fiber, etc.) and transfers to manufacturing
- Work closely with team members on conceptual design layout, vendor interaction, package prototyping, testing, and performance characterization
- Contributes to failure mode analysis (FMA) and qualification of product, especially related to alignment
- Perform data analysis utilizing DOE, SPC, and FMEA tools regularly throughout product life cycle
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education should be MS/PhD in optical, electrical, physical engineering or equivalent with 6+ years experience in optoelectronics
- Expertise in complex (6 degree) micro-optic alignment equipment/programming (HW/SW) and attach processes (e.g., epoxy or solder)
- Expertise with submicron fiber-attach methods (materials, processes and fixtures) to achieve high-coupling stability for SM pumps
- Expertise with automated alignment/attach equipment (HW/SW)
- Knowledge of optics, optical design, tolerance analysis
- Experience in conceptual design layout, vendor interaction, package prototyping, testing, and performance characterization
- Experience with high-power semiconductor laser devices
- Familiar with six-sigma techniques, e.g., design for manufacturability/reliability (DFx), SPC, GR&R
- Good cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
- Good command of English communication.

Working Conditions
- Work in office, engineering laboratory, cleanroom, and manufacturing-floor environments.
- Personal protective equipment and cleanroom garments may be required.
- Occasional overtime or support outside normal working hours may be required depending on production needs
