Job Description


The Director, Financial System Management is responsible for supporting the management and administration of the Workday financial system.  Additionally, the position is responsible for maintaining the key financial controls for the Finance organization, which includes but is not limited to maintaining and improving existing internal control matrices, business process narratives and flowcharts, along with other required documentation.

Additionally, key elements of this role include strategic direction and overall management for the Financial Management domain of Workday and related financial systems. This includes knowledge of the foundational data model and business process management, security, integrations, reporting, data quality, and overall system maintenance.  This role is also expected to recommend, develop, and implement effective and strategic business solutions through research of Workday updates/release notes and through analysis of organization’s data and business processes.

The Director, Financial System Management is a key Finance Division leadership position and is responsible for aiding the Corporate Controller in planning and directing the activities of the Finance Division with respect to financial reporting, maintaining adequate internal controls, and other regulatory requirements and accounting processes with respect to Workday. The Senior Director, Financial System Management provides leadership and support for all aspects of hospital and affiliate accounting and annual financial audit. This position supports administration and management of the hospital and identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the management and administration of Workday Financials.

  • Leads and supports Finance regarding Workday enhancements, inquiries, error resolution data issues, and governance.

  • Collaborates with IM leadership on all Finance related reporting and integrations needs, including the management of current reports and integrations as well as the development and implementation of future reports and integrations.

  • Responsible for evaluating system upgrades and modifications, including identifying requirements, configuration, testing, and deployment (including change and release management), and communication. 

  • Support the entire Finance organization with management of the enterprise FDM (foundational data model) and data governance.

  • Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders on the organization’s application and reporting requirements, while eyeing continuous process improvement, efficiency, and optimization.

  • Provides strategic direction on development and implementation of process improvements and innovative or alternative solutions. Provides advice and options on the best way to automate processes in the system.

  • Partner with the organization to refine business process maps to bring efficiencies to the overall business processes and visibility to the end-to-end process.

  • Responsible for ensuring that the monthly close process, from a Workday application perspective, for all companies is completed comprehensively and timely according to the close schedule.

  • Provides overall guidance for various Finance systems and integrations including, but not limited to, researching, and resolving problems with Workday and/ or issues with business processes plus recommendations of alternate solutions.

  • Maximize effectiveness of standard and advanced reports utilizing appropriate reporting tools. 

  • Monitors Brainstorms on Workday Community and communicates the information with Finance. Manages the Enterprise brainstorm creation.

  • Analyze organization’s finance systems and process footprint, and recommend solutions in collaboration with key stakeholders across operations, finance, and IT. 

  • Prepare management reports, KPI’s and audit schedules as directed by management.

  • Execute ad hoc projects as directed by senior management.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, Accounting.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in finance and/or financial systems, preferably minimum 5 years in a managerial capacity

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Internal Controls, financial statement preparation, including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and Consolidating Financial Statements preferred.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills.

  • Working knowledge of major ERP applications with extensive knowledge on financial reporting tools, system upgrades and process improvements.

  • Excellent critical thinking and presentation skills; proven ability to dissect problems, recommend process/systems solutions, and develop/ communicate solutions clearly, concisely, and completely.

  • Strong understanding of the software industry and its success metrics/drivers/processes.

  • Technical experience across desktop/mobile applications and ERP configuration/support preferred.

  • Solid work ethic and team player; ability to work well independently but also collaborate with and influence a cross section of peers and senior management.

  • Experience facilitating multi-disciplinary teams. Able to motivate and methodically lead a team to problem-solve to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Intellectual curiosity; keen interest in escalating the role of finance via systems and process transformation.

  • Problem solving skills to manage day to day challenges and develop and execute long term strategic goals.

  • Able to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality relating to patient health information (PHI) or Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using quantitative tools for idea generation and problem-solving. Experience using process mapping methods, e.g., flowcharts, work-flow, critical path analysis (e.g., Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint).

Pay Range

$130,000.00-$214,510.40 Salary
