Title: Manual Lathe Machinist

Our client is seeking an experienced Manual Lathe Machinist to join their manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating manual lathes to produce precision components according to blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements.
Position Responsibilities
• Set up and operate manual engine lathes to machine metal components to precise specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and measuring equipment.
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and cutting tools for various machining applications.
• Perform turning, facing, boring, threading, grooving, drilling, and other machining operations.
• Accurately measure finished parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Inspect work throughout the machining process to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Make necessary adjustments to tooling and machine settings to maintain specifications.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and keep equipment and work areas clean and organized.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments as needed.
• Maintain accurate production and quality records.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
• Previous experience operating manual lathes in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong knowledge of machining practices, tooling, speeds, and feeds.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations related to machining.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• CNC machining experience is a plus but not required.
Preferred Experience
• 3+ years of manual machining experience.
• Experience machining a variety of metals and materials.
• Experience with close-tolerance machining.
• Ability to set up jobs and determine appropriate tooling and machining processes.
