Job Description
We are seeking a experienced investment professional with a strong background in equities investing and deep familiarity with Chinese banking and securities regulations.
This role will focus on identifying, analyzing, and managing Asian equities investments with an emphasis on delivering high-quality financial analysis and actionable investment insights.
The successful candidate will also be expected to engage directly with companies’ middle/senior management and government officials, contributing to investment decisions and portfolio strategy.
Applicant is expected to be familiar and investment experience with Mainland Chinese financial and regulatory environment and comfortable with interaction with Chinese stakeholders in a private and government capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
Equities Investment & Research
- Conduct fundamental equity research on companies across sectors, including both listed and pre-IPO opportunities.
- Generate investment ideas supported by rigorous financial analysis, valuation, and industry assessment.
- Monitor portfolio holdings and provide ongoing investment recommendations (buy/sell/hold).
Financial Analysis & Valuation
- Build and maintain detailed financial models (valuation, DCF, comparables, scenario analysis).
- Analyze financial statements, profitability, capital structure, and growth drivers.
- Assess key risks including regulatory, market, and company-specific factors.
Regulatory & Market Expertise
- Apply knowledge of Chinese banking and securities regulations (CSRC, PBOC, SAFE, stock exchange rules) to investments involving Chinese companies.
- Evaluate regulatory implications on sectors, companies, and capital markets activities.
- Stay current with policy changes and assess their impact on valuations and investment risk.
Management Engagement & Due Diligence
- Conduct meetings with middle and senior management of companies (Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Investor Relations teams).
- Lead or participate in due diligence processes, including site visits and expert consultations.
- Develop insights from management interactions to support investment theses.
Portfolio & Strategy Support
- Contribute to portfolio construction, asset allocation, and risk management discussions.
- Prepare investment memos, presentations, and reports for internal committees.
- Collaborate with risk, compliance, trading and settlement teams to support execution and oversight.
Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related fields (MBA or Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Equity research, asset management, hedge funds, private equity, or investment banking.
- Demonstrated track record in investing in or analyzing Chinese equities.
Technical Expertise
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills.
- Solid understanding of equity markets, portfolio management, and investment processes.
- Essential familiarity with Chinese securities regulations (CSRC, exchange listing rules) and banking / financial system (PBOC, SAFE frameworks)
- Ability to connect regulatory developments to market and investment outcomes.
Language & Communication
- Fluency in Mandarin and English is mandatory (spoken and written).
- Strong presentation and report-writing skills.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with senior corporate stakeholders.
Core Competencies
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Sound investment judgment and risk awareness.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team-based decision-making.
- High level of professionalism and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- CFA charterholder or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience covering China A-shares, Hong Kong-listed equities, or ADRs.
- Existing network with Chinese corporate management teams or industry experts.
