What is the opportunity?
As a Senior Portfolio Advisor, you will join the U.S. Equities team within RBC’s Portfolio Advisory Group. The Portfolio Advisory Group provides portfolio management, service and support, and thought leadership that enables RBC Wealth Management advisors to deliver client investment solutions with the highest level of competency and confidence.
The U.S. Equities team manages six Guided Portfolios across key public equity investment factors such as dividends, growth, core, value, and international. The team is also a key service and support touchpoint for RBC advisors seeking research and viewpoints on public equities. As a Senior Portfolio Advisor, you will provide professional portfolio management on the Guided Portfolio: All Cap Growth, plus service and thought leadership to RBC advisors relating to equity securities. You will play an important role in equity portfolio management and maintaining visibility with RBC advisors.
What will you do?
- Collaborate as an Investment Committee member on the management of Guided Portfolio: All Cap Growth
- Conduct in-depth research on individual companies, develop actionable investment ideas, formulate equity portfolio construction, and collaboratively manage overall investment strategy
- Process a wide-array of research, news, reports, investment publications and company/analyst meetings to form independent investment opinions with due consideration to risks
- Serve as a thought-leader for the team from an investment perspective as it applies to individual securities, sector views and portfolio positioning
- Conduct in-person/video presentations on the equity market to RBC advisors and their clients; some travel required
- Champion the team’s investment thoughts through written commentary and conference call participation
- Provide proactive service with timely and thoughtful responses to RBC advisors seeking advice with respect to equity securities
- Build personal relationships and provide proactive and timely service to RBC advisors
- Serve as a knowledge base regarding RBC Capital Markets research and other research partners
- Cultivate and manage relationships with RBC Capital Markets analysts
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Professional experience investing in or analyzing growth stocks
- Combination of MBA and CFA, or possess one designation while in the process of obtaining the other
- 10+ years’ direct industry experience in financial services with 5-7 years in portfolio management or equity research
- Demonstrated investment knowledge of capital markets and the global economy
- Strong understanding of equity markets and portfolio management
- Ability to collaborate with team members and manage a model portfolio that reflects the views of the group and adheres to the investment mandate
- Ability to generate unique ideas and analysis using disparate information to incorporate into an investment decision
- Required Licensing: Series 7 and 66, or ability to obtain within 180 days
Nice-to-have
- Ability to understand the Financial Advisor’s business and identify themes and issues that can have an impact on their business
- Experience working as part of a geographically diverse team
- Working knowledge of analytical and market research tools including Morningstar, FactSet, and Bloomberg

The expected salary range for this particular position is $90,000-$160,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
