We are seeking a Barista with open availability to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing and serving coffee and other beverages to customers according to the recipes and standards of our Café. Must be able to work as part of a team to help take orders, prepare beverages and provide timely, courteous and efficient service to customers to ensure they have a joyous experience.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking food and drink orders
- Preparing and serving beverages such as drip coffee, espresso-based drinks, tea and other specialty drinks
- Preparing and serving food items such as sandwiches and pastries
- Answering customers’ questions about menu choices
- Promoting and recommending menu options to customers
- Taking payment from customers
- Tracking and ordering inventory for cafe and beverage supplies, such as coffee beans, milk, napkins and cups
- Maintaining espresso machines, grinders, coffee machines and other equipment by cleaning, troubleshooting and scheduling repairs
- Keeping the work environment and cafe seating area clean, sanitary and organized
- Responding to and resolving customer concerns or complaints
- Evaluating and modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality of service
Requirements and skills:
Previous work experience as a Barista
Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
Knowledge of sanitation regulations
Flexibility to work various shifts
Basic math skills
Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
Excellent communication skills
High school diploma; relevant training is a plus
