Overview
The
Cloud Systems Administrator oversees the daily administration, monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of our Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, SaaS, and hybrid cloud infrastructure. This role ensures high availability, security, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across all systems. Collaborating with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business teams, you will maintain secure cloud services, resolve Tier II/III technical issues, and help implement new technologies aligned with business objectives.
Responsibilities
Cloud Administration & Optimization
- Administer and maintain Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, SaaS applications, and hybrid environments.
- Configure cloud resources including virtual machines, storage, networking, identity services, and applications.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and resource utilization to ensure optimal, cost-effective operations.
- Support cloud migrations and the rollout of new enterprise cloud services.
Identity, Access, & Security Compliance
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID, including user accounts, group memberships, licensing, and authentication.
- Enforce access controls by configuring MFA, Conditional Access Policies, and Single Sign-On (SSO).
- Maintain security standards by auditing user permissions against the principle of least privilege.
- Support compliance initiatives for CMMC Level 2, NIST 800-171, CUI, and FedRAMP frameworks.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to monitor alerts, patch vulnerabilities, and execute remediation plans.
Data Protection & Operations Support
- Oversee backup solutions and disaster recovery processes to guarantee business continuity.
- Execute recovery testing and validate backups regularly while updating disaster recovery documentation.
- Provide Tier II/III support for complex cloud infrastructure, M365, networking, and SaaS application issues.
- Document cloud configurations, operational procedures, and engineering standards.
Collaboration & Automation
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell or alternative scripting languages to increase efficiency.
- Cross-train IT staff and provide technical guidance or documentation to end users.
- Contribute to IT projects, partnering with the Help Desk, Security, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Cloud Expertise: Strong administrative knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 ecosystems.
- Hybrid Infrastructure: Proven experience supporting hybrid cloud architectures and on-premises systems.
- Core Tools: Active experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Intune.
- Technical Skills: Sound understanding of cloud networking, storage, virtualization, and identity management.
- Security Mindset: Practical knowledge of cloud security principles and cybersecurity best practices.
- Soft Skills: Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
Preferred Experience & Education
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or equivalent work experience.
- IT Experience: 5+ years of overall IT experience, with 3+ years specifically focused on Azure administration.
- Advanced Tooling: Scripting experience (PowerShell) and exposure to Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, and Azure Monitor.
- Industry Context: Prior experience supporting IT operations within manufacturing or aerospace environments.
- Virtualization: Familiarity with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
