Audit quality is central to our strategy as an Audit Stream, the key ingredient to our success. Consistent high audit quality enables us to attract, develop and retain talented people and be proud of our work. Audit quality allows us to compete in the market and demonstrate that we can play a key role in market reform.
Consistently high audit quality does not happen by chance. It requires a mindset and culture of challenge and professional scepticism, appropriate resources both people and intellectual, investment in central support for engagement teams and technology solutions. Within the last year we have increased our headcount significantly, invested in new partners, and commenced a significant investment programme in our Audit Quality Department.
Overview: This is an opportunity for a high-performing and ambitious Senior Manager to join the Audit Quality Department (AQD). The successful candidate will have significant audit experience, including leading audits and delivering audit-related projects, alongside strong technical expertise in auditing standards.
Responsibilities
- Support audit teams to deliver high-quality audits in line with ISAs, firm methodology and regulatory expectations
- Perform targeted or in-flight audit quality reviews, providing clear and practical feedback Challenge audit execution, documentation and professional judgement throughout the audit lifecycle
- Provide technical advice and support on complex audit and accounting matters Contribute to the development and maintenance of audit methodology, guidance and policies
- Design and deliver audit quality training and coaching
- Identify themes, risks and opportunities for firm-wide audit quality improvement
- Work on audit quality projects and initiatives that support continuous improvement
- Act as a representative for a sector or office, responding to local audit quality queries and supporting development of sector-specific content, training and guidance
Requirements
- Proven external audit experience, including exposure to complex audits
- Strong knowledge of UK auditing standards (ISAs) and financial reporting requirements
- ACA qualification (or equivalent)
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with Partners and engagement teams
- Pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset with confidence to challenge constructively
- Strong written, verbal and analytical skills
- Proven project management skills, with experience of leading and delivering multiple competing priorities in a structured and timely way
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently as well as collaboratively
- Demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to support different teams, sectors and priorities as required, responding to changing business needs
- High attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates personal accountability and ownership of work
