VP of Buying and Planning

We're excited to expand our team with a VP, Buying & Planning who will build and lead Cozy Earth's buying and planning function. This leader will shape the omnichannel merchandise strategy across ecommerce and retail stores, translating brand vision, customer insights, regional demand, seasonality, and financial goals into a compelling assortments and disciplined inventory investments. As a key member of the leadership team, this role will establish the people, processes and capabilities needed to support the next stage of growth.

Responsibilities:

• Build and lead the buying and planning function, including establishing the organizational structure, implementing the processes and capabilities needed to support the company's growth.
• Develop and own the omnichannel buying and planning strategy across ecommerce, retail and wholesale, ensuring assortment and inventory investments support the distinct customer and financial needs of each channel.
• Own the seasonal buy plan and assortment selection, translating brand strategy, customer insights and financial targets into purchase decisions across all product categories.
• Build and manage the seasonal merchandising calendar, aligning design, production, marketing, and sales channels around key milestones from concept through delivery.
• Partner with Product Development to align product costs, vendor terms, minimum order quantities, lead times and delivery schedules with financial targets and inventory needs.
• Partner with Product Development to align purchase quantities and timing with PD milestones, channel priorities and seasonal demand.
• Set retail pricing strategy and architecture in partnership with cost and margin targets negotiated with vendors, balancing competitive positioning and brand equity.
• Partner closely with ecommerce, wholesale, and retail leaders to ensure assortment, pricing, and timing decisions support the specific needs and goals of each channel.
• Lead merchandise financial planning, including sales, margin, inventory, open-to-buy inventory turn and product productivity.
• Analyze in-season sell-through and business performance, adjusting assortment, allocation, and pricing to maximize revenue and margin while managing inventory risk.
• Partner with design and production to align purchase quantities and timing with product development milestones, customer demand and business priorities.
• Establish clear reporting and performance metrics, providing leadership team with visibility into sales, margin, inventory health, risks, opportunities and recommended actions.

Skills and Qualifications:

• 10+ years of progressive buying and planning experience at a premium retail brand, including leading and developing teams.
• Bachelor's degree in business, merchandising, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience building or scaling a buying and planning function, including establishing processes, tools, reporting and planning cadences.
• Proven experience partnering with Product Development, sourcing and manufacturing teams on cost, minimums, lead times and delivery.
• Proven experience working across ecommerce, wholesale, and retail channels, with an understanding of how to tailor strategy to each.
• Experience managing open-to-buy and inventory commitments at scale, with strong financial and analytical acumen.
• Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and align at the executive level.
• Experience in the athleisure/activewear category, preferred.
