Description
Under the direct supervision of the T&D System Manager, the employee works independently on assigned duties and responsibilities.
• Plans and manages the maintenance of inventory and control records, such as computerized databases and periodic physical inventories
• Initiates purchase order requests to maintain inventory levels for regular operations
• Sources, locates, and initiates purchase order requests in emergencies
• Tracks, receives, and inspects incoming equipment, supplies, or parts for quality and quantity
• Issues and maintains master lock and key system for the department
• Cleans, organizes, and maintains warehouse and other material storage locations
• Monitoring and tracking high-cost inventory and easily pilfered items
• Conducts physical inventories and maintains accurate records of all department equipment and supplies
• Prepares and submits to Finance project cost information to bill for department provided electrical or utility service
• Maintains records of completed electrical utility construction and street lighting installations
• Establishes and maintains good working relationships with vendors and suppliers
• Performs other duties as assignedKnowledge of:
• Modern storeroom and inventory procedures, filing systems, and computer equipment
• Governmental purchasing, preparation of contract documents, and bidding procedures
• Standard terminology used in engineering and construction industries
• Applicable standard grades and qualities of equipment, materials, parts, and supplies
• Municipal accounting principles, purchasing practices, and billing procedures
Skills in:

Ability to:
• Learn and understand types of equipment, materials, parts, and supplies used in an electric utility which are typically requisitioned, received, and stored

• Communicate well with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language
• Understand and follow oral and written policies, procedures and instructions
• Prepare and present accurate and reliable reports
• Use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and oral instructions
• Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines

• Some general experience in procurement, warehousing, or accounting; or
• Experience working at an electric utility in a warehouse, procurement, or accounting position, electric utility experience in Sitka, preferred; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
• Possession of a First Aid and CPR Certification
• Must be available and willing to be on 24-hours on-call when assigned and to respond to call-outs when needed and in emergency situations
• Employees are expected to wear right attire and Personal Protective Equipment (“PPE”) for safety purposes for the work assigned
Working Conditions:
• Primarily works in warehouse but may be required to work in an office setting as needed.
• Frequently works in the CBS on-site outside storage yard as well as some remote locations with storage yards
Specific Physical Requirements:
• Operating office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination using a computer, keyboard, and small tools and parts
• Sitting at desk for periods of time while using a computer and performing other tasks
• Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds with or without the assistance of proper equipment
• Frequently stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting when handling inventory
General Physical Requirements:
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits the employee to communicate well with vendors, suppliers and other employees
• Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits the employee to inspect materials and review documents in electronic or hardcopy form and to ensure safe work areas
• Sufficient manual dexterity which permits the employee to handle small tools and parts, operate a computer keyboard and stock a wide variety of inventory items
• Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes which permits the employee to lift, carry, push, or pull items, operate a forklift, stack pallets on vertical shelves, and perform the physical work inside and outside warehouse locations
