Southeast Regional Underwriting Manager, NAS Healthcare

This role will be responsible for managing Ironshore/Liberty Mutual’s healthcare liability underwriting operations for the Southeast region. Lines of business include: Healthcare Professional Liability for Hospitals, Senior Care, Miscellaneous Medical, Digital Health and Physician Groups; Managed Care E&O/D&O; Life Sciences; and Stop Loss. The Regional Manager will lead an underwriting team and provide leadership to enable them to achieve their respective business objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Execute healthcare’s strategy to attain production and profitability results across the region, wholesale, and retail channels through the deployment of product and underwriting expertise on transactional and portfolio decisions.
• Acquisition, retention, and development of underwriters. Formally managing, guiding, mentoring, and coaching them in both technical and professional skills.
• Manage the region’s P&L to assure profitable growth, retention, rate, and other production metrics across all products and distribution channels.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to maintain alignment on product and underwriting offerings.
• Collaborate closely with GRS Field Operations, including Regional Executives and Branch Executives.
• Develop and deploy a business development and engagement strategy with supporting processes, tools, and capabilities.
• Maintain executive level relationships with top broker partners and engaging corporate level resources while fully promoting and representing the Liberty Mutual and Ironshore brand.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with key clients focused on their needs and priorities while promoting the breadth of Liberty Mutual/Ironshore products.
• Drive profitable cross-sell of Liberty/Ironshore products across their region and underwriting team.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent training plus at least 7 years of relevant underwriting experience with 4 years of healthcare underwriting experience strongly preferred.
• Requires 1-2 years of previous people management/supervisory experience.
• Requires an advanced knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, procedures, and techniques, including, but not limited to coverage issues, product lines, marketing, and product competition within the marketplace.
• Preference for candidate to be located within Southeast Region.
• Advanced knowledge of a technical specialty.
• The ability to effectively interact with brokers and internal departments is also required.
• Strong verbal and written communications, and organizational skills.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and decision-making skills also required.
