Program Summary

The KBR Metrology team supports manufacturing, engineering & test, repair & overhaul, and aftermarket service centers globally in support of Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Medical, Safety, Semiconductor and other industries.  Our support includes services such as complete management of embedded metrology systems, calibration and repair, test & inspection, metrology engineering, preventive maintenance, NADCAP special process support, and AMS2750 Heat Treat pyrometry services and more.  Our teams are located across the globe working in KBR and customer embedded laboratories as well as performing onsite visits with our field service operations and mobile laboratory platforms.  Our teams work to ensure our customer systems are maintained to high standards through calibration, preventative maintenance, automation and programming, calibration recall system management, and audit support.  We ensure great customer experience by tracking and providing performance and delivery metrics through digital dashboards, as well as routine customer service surveys and direct customer meetings.

Job Summary

The Senior Metrology Dimensional Technician is responsible for performing, leading, and overseeing precision dimensional calibrations, measurements, and inspections to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and quality requirements. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for dimensional metrology systems, measurement uncertainty analysis, and laboratory best practices while supporting accreditation requirements and continuous improvement initiatives. Sr. Metrology Technician may be required to provide assistance to entry level technicians as they learn new measurement procedures and processes. This role will report to the lead technician and lab manager.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, and measurement traceability requirements.

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Pratt & Whitney Labmaster systems, providing technical leadership in setup, operation, calibration, troubleshooting, data analysis, and measurement process optimization.

  • Serve as the SME for Mahr Gage Block Comparator systems, ensuring accurate calibration of gage blocks and dimensional standards, maintaining traceability, and supporting method development and uncertainty analysis.

  • Perform complex dimensional calibrations and inspections while ensuring compliance with laboratory quality, accreditation, and customer requirements.

  • Provide technical leadership through procedure development, personnel training, equipment qualification, and resolution of advanced metrology and measurement challenges.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 10+ years of experience in the field, OR associate’s degree in engineering technology or a relevant field with 7+ years of experience.

  • Perform advanced calibrations and verifications of dimensional measurement equipment, including Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gages, Dial Indicators, Bore Gages, Gage Blocks, Optical Comparators, CMM and surface plates.

  • Demonstrated experience calibrating and operating a broad range of dimensional measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gages, bore gages, gage blocks, and optical measurement systems.

  • Ability to interpret, validate, modify, and create uncertainty budgets in accordance with ISO 17025:2107

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software, including Excel.

  • Ability to travel to client locations to perform onsite service up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IndySoft, Fluke Met/Team, Fluke Met/Track, and Met/Cal systems.

  • Familiarity with laboratory measurement and calibration equipment.

  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT)

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
