Group: Road

Position: Regional Development Director

Location: Kansas City, MO

 

We are seeking a Regional Development Director to lead business growth and client development efforts for the Road Group across assigned geographic regions. This role focuses on expanding market presence, building strategic partnerships, and driving new project opportunities through proactive relationship management and pursuit leadership.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and proven business developer with a deep understanding of the transportation industry, client needs, and public-sector procurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development and client engagement efforts across designated regions.
• Identify, pursue, and secure new roadway and transportation project opportunities.
• Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, agencies, and partners.
• Collaborate with Group Leaders, Project Managers, and Marketing staff on proposal and pursuit strategies.
• Track and manage regional sales pipeline, hit rates, and performance metrics.
• Represent American Structurepoint at industry conferences, professional associations, and networking events.
• Lead go/no-go evaluations and participate in strategic planning for target pursuits.
• Provide regional market intelligence and competitor insights to leadership.
• Coordinate with internal technical teams to align resources and expertise with market needs.
• Support mentoring and development of staff in business development and client relations.
• Collaborate with technical leaders to position the firm for success.
• Track and evaluate market trends, opportunities, and performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Marketing, Business, or related field.
• 15+ years of experience in business development or project leadership in the A/E/C industry.
• In-depth knowledge of transportation and roadway markets (DOT, municipal, and regional).
• Proven record of successful pursuit leadership and client relationship development.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent industry credentials.
• Experience leading multi-office or multi-state business development initiatives.
• Familiarity with CRM tools such as Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching as required.
• Ability to lift up to 10–15 pounds.
• Regular, reliable attendance and punctuality.
