Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Junior Desk Strategist to join our Agency CMO and MBS trading desk. The role offers a career opportunity in Agency MBS and CMO markets through market analysis, relative value idea generation, and risk assessment. They will work closely with the senior strategist, traders, and salespeople to identify market opportunities, evaluate risk/reward tradeoffs, and communicate market insights to internal and external clients.

Skills You’ll Need
- Evaluate Agency MBS and CMO valuation drivers, including macroeconomic conditions, prepayments, supply/demand dynamics, and policy developments, to support desk positioning and investment idea generation.
- Build and maintain data tools, datasets, models, and automation workflows to improve output quality, scalability, and turnaround time.
- Partner with risk management, modeling, and technology teams to enhance desk analytics, improve infrastructure, and support strategic business initiatives.
- Apply AI tools to accelerate and improve data workflows, and enhance investment decision-making. Communicate market views, relative value opportunities, and data findings to traders, salespeople, and clients.
Skills That Will Help You Excel
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline
- Proficient experience in securitized products, fixed income, quantitative research, or a related data field
- Strong quantitative and investigative skills with the ability to evaluate complex market relationships and risk factors
- Proficiency in Python and Excel/VBA; experience with data analysis, automation, and quantitative modeling
- Familiarity with AI-assisted research and productivity tools & proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimize workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely
Expectations
It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York, NY office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York, NY is $110,000 to $125,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.
