EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF JEFFERSON COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAMS.
This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in various Departments as they occur.
NOTE: Selective certification of eligibles with current and sufficient experience indicating a thorough knowledge of the policies, practices, and procedures unique to the Department of JeffCAP will be used in filling this vacancy.Under direction, the purpose of the position is to provide counseling and training for assigned employment and training and federal services programs. For the current vacancy, the employee will perform advanced clerical and administrative support for Administrators, Coordinators, Administrative Management staff, and other program personnel as assigned, including preparing, typing, editing, and distributing correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, forms, presentations, and other documents from various sources, while completing assigned duties and special projects in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. This position prepares meeting agendas, materials, minutes, and follow up documentation. Answers and screens incoming telephone calls, greets and assists visitors, and provides customer service to clients, community partners, vendors, and the general public by responding to inquiries regarding Federal programs and services, providing program information and referrals, and directing individuals to the appropriate staff or resources. Assists with participant intake, interviews, eligibility screening, application processing, and other case management support activities in accordance with federal, state, and local program guidelines. Assists with processing applications and maintaining accurate participant information in applicable state and federal databases. Performs related work as required. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent certificate; PLUS, current employment and sufficient experience (approx. six months) with Jefferson Parish in a clerical position responsible for supporting a state/federally-funded program.(PROMOTIONAL AND LIMTED ENTRANCE*)

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment. The information is subject to verification and the Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality and quantity of education and experience claimed for credit.
