Cardiovascular Assist

Summary: 
Reports to stress lab supervisor, but daily tasks will be overseen by registered technical staff. Responsibilities include direct patient care including noninvasive testing, preparation for examinations, patient transport, and data collection. Skills include obtaining medical history, patient care, and exercise testing as directed and overseen by registered staff. The incumbent is expected to perform other similar duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities:

1) Provides age-appropriate care to patients.
Demonstrates the knowledge of developmental stages for the following age groups and applies developmental theories and concepts when implementing care for patients

2) Prepares patients for cardiac procedures:
Explain cardiac procedure to patient. Interview patient to obtain history. Present documentation to medical staff to determine if procedure is appropriate. Prepares patient for electrocardiogram

3) Performs Noninvasive Stress Tests:
Once medically cleared for test, initiate procedure via department protocol under supervision of medical provider. Performs ongoing monitoring and documenting necessary findings. Initiates emergency procedures according to established hospital policy.

5) Communicates supply needs to appropriate staff. Determines the need for replacement supplies before depletion. Daily evaluation for adequate supplies and review of expiration dates. Stores supplies in appropriate sites as directed by supervisor

6) Maintains equipment in a clean and proper working order.
Cleans all equipment and patient care areas according to procedure daily as observed by random review.

7) Communicates effectively with team and patients.
Interacts with patients in a respectful and informative manner. Clearly communicates information related to patient care to the team. Recognizes culturally based patient and family needs.

8) Is knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures.
Responds effectively in emergency situations as observed. Maintains Patient safety at all times. Communicated effectively with appropriate personnel.

9) Functions as a member of the team
Assists team members with clinical activities. Provides feedback related to the team process. Assists team members with non-clinical activities.

10) Professional Development:
Maintains CPR and Critical Care Arrhythmia Certification according to departmental policy. Follows proper procedure for incident reporting, substance precautions, infection control, nuclear isotope spill and disaster response as observed by supervisor. Notifies appropriate safety personnel in the case of a nuclear isotope spill in the stress lab area.

Required Work Experience: 

1) Incumbent needs have successfully completed the hospital dysrhythmia course and exam and update annually

2) Three years prior cardiovascular experience preferred

Skills and Competencies:

1) Proficient in reading and writing in English

Education:

GED or HiSET (Required)

Certifications:

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - Other

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

$25.26 - $29.03 - $34.33
