Product Liability & Small Claims Specialist

Position Summary

Role PurposeThe Product Liability & Small Claims Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end management of product-liability and small-claims cases handled by the Service Group.The role ensures that each case is managed in a timely, structured and evidence-based manner, including case assessment, evidence collection, preparation and submission of legal documents, representation of SEIL in small-claims proceedings, exposure follow-up and formal closure.The Specialist formulates a professional recommendation for each case based on its specific facts, risks and available evidence. All settlements, financial commitments, exceptions and final decisions remain subject to the applicable approval process.

Role and Responsibilities

Legal Coordination & Resolution

• Prepare factual summaries, timelines, and business recommendations for management and Legal review

• Coordinate with Legal on complex, sensitive, or precedent-setting cases

• Recommend appropriate resolution approaches based on facts, evidence and exposure

• Obtain approvals before implementing settlements or commitments

• Coordinate implementation and confirm completion of approved resolutions

Case Tracking & Reporting

• Maintain accurate case tracker with status, exposure, deadlines and next actions

• Provide regular updates to leadership on open cases, hearings and emerging risks

• Monitor compliance with timelines; escalate procedural delays and evidence gaps

• Identify recurring claim patterns and control gaps; communicate to process owners

• Support management reviews with concise, fact-based updates
