Description
The Senior QC Inspector located in Grandview MO reports to the Quality Manager and is responsible for inspecting incoming parts, parts in process, and finished goods to assure conformance to quality control requirements established by the company’s Engineering Department and/or the Production Planner or Quality Engineer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a high degree of independence in completing assignments or regular duties assigned by the Production Planner or Quality Engineer
- Inspect incoming parts to print and specification using a variety of test devices and measuring instruments to include but not limited to calipers, micrometers, height gages, thread gages etc…
- Inspect first piece, machine shop, and assembly production operation, for conformance with current engineering drawings as needed
- Inspect finished product for quality of workmanship, calibration and conformance to standard or special parts list data.
- Conduct or support on random or planned inspection / audit of plant production operations for conformance at Production Planner, Quality Managers or Quality Engineers discretion.
- Understand and follow instructions regarding sample sizes and rejection standards ie: AQL levels etc...
- Periodically inspect in-process work according to routing and sampling instructions received from Production Planner or Quality Engineer
- Advise Quality Engineer, Supervision or Line Leads of unacceptable parts or finished product and cause of rejection.
- Demonstrate the ability to read and correctly interpret blueprints, engineering specifications and quality procedures.
- Understand and administer plant Defective Material procedure per prescribed process.
- Track and schedule re-calibration and certification of inspection tools, gages, and meters as per internal and regulatory requirements and timelines.
- Provide support and facilitation on analysis on RMA’s, customer returns to determine failure modes, record information, and advise Quality Engineer and Supervisors, Line Leads accordingly.
- Provide support and facilitation on input and analysis of scrap data when required
- Maintain files, reports, charts etc… on applicable production and quality control information using standard forms and electronic systems as required.
- Assist Plant Management and Quality Engineer with the analysis and record keeping of DMR and scrap data.
- Perform work in a safe, accurate, and expeditious manner.
- Maintain an effective dialogue with all employees to foster good employee morale.
- Responsible for general housekeeping and organization of applicable workstation(s).
Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s):
- Quality (DPPM / Scrap)
- Compliance (ATEX / IECEX, CSA, UL etc…)
- Obtaining all calibration certificates on time
- Issue any required DMRs in a timely manner
Requirements
Required Skills / Experience / Equipment Operation:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must Possess ALL QC Inspector Skills, Experience and Requirements.
- Work requires the ability to read, interpret, and apply information from Engineering drawings and specifications to conduct a thorough inspection.
- Must be able to read, interpret and apply quality control procedures including sampling plans.
- Must have experience with and be able to safely and correctly use a variety of inspection tools, gages, and meters.
- Must be able to read, interpret and apply quality control procedures including sampling plans.
- Experience with inspecting both mechanical and electronic parts is necessary.
- Work requires a deliberate approach and a high degree of accuracy.
