THE DIVISION

POSITION
The Sales Representative serves as a Sales Manager and is responsible for promoting and selling the Visalia Convention Center’s event space and services across a diverse portfolio of clients and event types. This role plays a key part in driving revenue growth, expanding services, and achieving or exceeding annual sales goals.
The Sales Manager will generate new business leads, cultivate strong client relationships, and independently manage the full sales cycle, from initial inquiry and site tours to contract preparation and post-event engagement. Duties include negotiating event details, preparing comprehensive cost summaries, and implementing creative marketing strategies to attract new business. The role also requires staying current with industry trends, understanding competitive markets, and representing the Convention Center at local and industry trade events as needed.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is motivated, self-directed, and brings a proven track record of sales success, preferably within the hospitality or event industry. They will demonstrate strong skills in sales strategy, relationship building, negotiation, and record management, along with the ability to analyze performance and refine processes to drive results.
This individual will be outgoing and confident, comfortable with public speaking, and skilled at guiding clients through the booking and event planning process. Exceptional customer service, polished verbal and written communication, and the ability to foster collaborative working relationships are essential. A strong understanding of facility booking procedures and a commitment to delivering an outstanding client experience will set the successful candidate apart.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAny combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skill and ability is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skill and abilities would be:
- Three (3) years of sales experience preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Ability to provide own transportation and proof of insurance.
- Willingness to travel and work an irregular schedule.

Positions in this class are typically situated in a standard office environment but may travel with exposure to the weather. Moderate physical work may be required including walking, standing, and lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 65 pounds.
