We're looking for a Civil Engineer to join our growing team in Hastings. We are open to both full-time and part-time applications, with this opportunity allowing you to work across a diverse range of projects including three-waters, transportation, and land and site development. This is a broad and varied role, suited to someone who is adaptable, resilient, and enjoys contributing to meaningful projects that shape our communities.

As a Civil Engineer, you can expect to:
- Lead and deliver projects on time and within budget while meeting client needs and expectations.
- Communicate proactively and positively, ensuring team members, managers, and clients are kept informed of project progress and key deliverables.
- Contribute to projects from conceptual design through to detailed design, procurement, and construction.
- Continuously develop your technical capability, engineering judgement, design expertise, and understanding of emerging technologies and industry best practice.
- Demonstrate strong communication, presentation, networking, and consulting skills.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships that contribute to ongoing and repeat business opportunities.
Mōu ake | About you
You're passionate about engineering and problem-solving and enjoy working as part of a team to deliver meaningful infrastructure projects. You bring a proactive mindset, a willingness to learn, and enjoy applying practical solutions to real-world engineering challenges while delivering quality outcomes for clients.
You'll also have:
- A minimum of 4 years' experience in a consulting or construction environment, working on infrastructure projects within the three-waters, land development energy, and/or transport sectors.
- A qualification in Civil Engineering and be working towards Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineering New Zealand.
- Experience in general civil design and construction observation of, three-waters, and/or road and transport (highly regarded).
- Experience using modelling software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), or 12d.
- Contributes positively to team success and takes an active role in guiding and developing junior team members, helping build capability and confidence across the team.
- Familiarity with local council standards and codes of practice.
- Experience supporting asset management, maintenance, or renewals projects would be highly regarded.
- A positive, "can-do" attitude and a collaborative approach to working with others.
- Strong initiative, motivation, and a commitment to delivering excellent client outcomes.
