Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Patient Observer provides constant observation and support to patients who have been identified as a potential risk to themselves or others. The Patient Observer assists with patient-related tasks based on individual needs while maintaining patient confidentiality and following hospital policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
Maintain constant observation of assigned patient(s).
Monitor patients for changes in behavior or condition and promptly communicate concerns to the RN.
Document care and observations as required.
Receive and provide detailed handoff information regarding the patient and their status.
Assist patients with feeding as directed by the RN.
Assist in the event of a patient fall according to hospital procedures.
Maintain patient safety, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
- 0–1 year of healthcare experience preferred.
