Executive Property Underwriter
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced and dedicated Executive Property Underwriter to assess, evaluate, and underwrite commercial property risks while ensuring profitability and portfolio growth. The role involves working closely with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders to develop tailored solutions that align with company policies. Responsibilities
- Evaluate and analyze complex commercial property risks to determine insurability within established underwriting guidelines and company policies.
- Develop and recommend underwriting terms and conditions for new and renewal accounts to ensure profitability and success.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and key business partners to understand client needs and provide exceptional service.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, claims, and risk management, to drive business growth and innovation.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and market dynamics to adjust underwriting strategies as needed.
- Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers and clients while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
- Prepare detailed reports, risk assessments, and documentation to support underwriting decisions.
- Mentor and train junior underwriters, providing guidance and sharing best practices.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of process improvements and underwriting policies.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field. Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are a plus.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience as a Property Underwriter, with a strong track record in handling complex commercial risks.
- In-depth knowledge of property insurance policies, reinsurance, and risk management principles.
- Exceptional analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to balance risk and reward.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in underwriting tools, software, and data analytics for risk modeling and assessment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills are highly desirable.
