Job Description
This role sits within the Global Customer Documentation team, supporting the Video Security & Access Control division of Motorola Solutions. You will help develop, refine, and deliver the clear, accessible information our customers need to successfully deploy and operate our cloud-based video, intrusion, and physical security platforms.
This position involves hands-on technical writing, high-level documentation planning, and prioritization across a growing portfolio of products.
In this role, you will make a defining contribution by:
- Writing High-Quality Content: Creating customer-focused technical documentation with clarity, creativity, and precision.
- User-Centric Information Design: Designing attractive, easy-to-navigate user guides and help centers to assist our end users and administrators.
- Quality & Consistency: Peer-reviewing existing and new documentation to maintain top quality and ensure a consistent look, feel, and tone across Motorola Solutions products.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with Engineering, Support, Escalations, and User Experience (UX) teams to help shape our video security, access control, and intrusion detection software solutions.
Location & Work Model
Our primary office for this team is in Uxbridge, West London. This is a hybrid role, requiring regular onsite presence at our Uxbridge offices.
Basic Requirements
You are not expected to have all of the following skills, but they will be useful in performing your job.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is highly proficient in English with exceptional written communication skills.
- Understands the importance of clear, concise, and easily digestible customer instructions.
- Is a recent graduate or has foundational experience documenting complex technical subjects for non-technical audiences.
- Is confident voicing opinions on product usability, identifying gaps in customer documentation, or pointing out features that are difficult to navigate or document.
We consider it a bonus if you have:
- Experience creating technical graphics, diagrams, or video tutorials.
- A working knowledge of cloud-based software, machine learning, or video surveillance/access control systems.
- Experience utilizing AI tools to enhance writing efficiency and organizational workflows.
- Familiarity with component content management systems (CCMS) or authoring software (e.g., MadCap Flare).
- Experience with markup languages such as HTML and XML.
- Knowledge of version control workflows (ideally Git).
