Description

POSITION IS LOCATED IN TORRANCE, CA

We are the Digital Product Team responsible for the analysis, design, delivery, and continued evolution of the organization’s automotive finance websites and mobile app, customer service agent console, and other digital tools. Our mission is to provide exemplary customer experience to foster trust and loyalty. We value each interaction as a brand building opportunity. We apply a customer centric approach – Listen, Understand, Advocate, and Anticipate – in every channel to provide seamless and relevant service.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial Technical Product Owner to join as a key member of our digital team. You will own product and systems-analysis responsibilities across the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, functional solution design, technical delivery, testing, implementation, and analysis of complex production issues.

For example, you will lead technical grooming and solution-review sessions; analyze customer, business, compliance, and platform requirements; translate those requirements into system functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and integration requirements; evaluate technical dependencies and alternative solutions; partner with engineering teams to assess implementation complexity and prioritize work; design and execute risk-based user acceptance and regression testing; perform solution demonstrations; and lead technical launch validation and analysis of complex warranty-period issues.

You are as comfortable leading and collaborating with UX, marketing, and training as you are working with engineering, testing, SOX, compliance, and legal to define functional specifications, evaluate solution options, resolve system-design constraints, and deliver compliant digital solutions. You are open to ambiguity and quickly flex for changing conditions.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to consult with business users, IT partners, and external vendors; elicit and analyze system requirements; document functional and technical decisions; and communicate complex platform behavior and solution tradeoffs.

As a Technical Product Owner for a financial services provider, you are detail oriented and own a high level of accountability. You maintain high standards for solution quality, technical readiness, implementation risk, cost, and delivery across project launches and ongoing platform operations.

You will apply deep subject matter expertise in customer personas, Salesforce and mobile platforms, payment flows, system integrations, business rules, account conditions, data dependencies, and platform behavior. You will measure and analyze product, platform, transaction, performance, and operational metrics to identify system behavior, support technical solution decisions, validate business cases, and evaluate post-launch results.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead product and systems-analysis activities and serve as a subject matter expert for the Salesforce and mobile app environments, including platform capabilities, system behavior, business rules, integrations, data flows, and technical constraints.
  • Analyze user and system needs and translate them into clear user stories, system functional specifications, acceptance criteria, business rules, data requirements, integration requirements, and nonfunctional requirements.
  • Consult with Business and IT teams to analyze and document current- and future-state system process flows, user interactions, payment flows, data exchanges, integration dependencies, exception paths, and technical decisions.
  • Design and execute risk-based UAT and regression test strategies, scenarios, scripts, and traceability based on system specifications and acceptance criteria; analyze test results and system behavior; isolate and triage defects; evaluate downstream and integration impacts; and collaborate with engineering and testing teams to validate corrective solutions.
  • Provide limited subject matter expertise for escalated platform issues and support the development of technical operating guidance, launch-readiness materials, and training content relating to new or modified system functionality.
  • Collaborate with CX, business, architecture, development, and testing resources to analyze user needs, evaluate alternative technical solutions, define system functionality, document user stories and specifications, and validate delivered functionality through testing.
  • Lead digital platform initiatives and advise leadership on platform capabilities, technical feasibility, solution alternatives, architecture and integration implications, implementation strategy, technical risks, resource requirements, and cost considerations to support informed approvals.
  • Analyze and support the reliability and continued evolution of the digital platforms by evaluating payment-batch behavior, release dependencies, platform and vendor changes, integration impacts, system incidents, and recurring defects; define functional requirements and corrective solution options; assess technical and operational risk; validate releases and production fixes; and coordinate technical implementation with engineering, architecture, testing, security, and vendor teams.
  • Lead the product-analysis components of agile sprint planning, technical grooming, solution demonstrations, retrospectives, and backlog management to ensure work is supported by sufficiently defined system requirements, dependencies, acceptance criteria, technical risks, and implementation priorities.
  • Consult with users, business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to analyze business and user needs and determine software, system, integration, data, security, and functional specifications.
  • Evaluate alternative functional and technical solutions based on platform capabilities, architecture constraints, customer experience, implementation complexity, technical risk, cost, security, compliance, and maintainability.
  • Analyze end-to-end data flows and system integrations across Salesforce, mobile, web, payment, communication, identity, and partner platforms; document interface behavior, dependencies, exception handling, and downstream impacts.
  • Define and validate applicable nonfunctional requirements in consultation with architecture, security, compliance, and engineering teams, including availability, performance, accessibility, security, privacy, auditability, scalability, and resiliency.
  • Partner with architecture and engineering teams to assess technical feasibility, identify platform limitations, evaluate dependencies, and determine appropriate implementation approaches.
  • Develop or contribute to implementation and release strategies addressing data, configuration, integration, testing, deployment sequencing, rollback considerations, customer impacts, and operational readiness.
  • Analyze complex or recurring production issues to identify system behavior, affected integrations, business-rule failures, and corrective solution requirements.
  • Exercise independent judgment in prioritizing solution alternatives, resolving requirement conflicts, making functional design decisions, and determining whether delivered functionality satisfies system specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain traceability among business and user needs, system functional specifications, solution decisions, acceptance criteria, test coverage, defects, and delivered functionality.

WHAT WILL THIS PERSON BE WORKING ON:

We are improving our digital products through large-scale projects, platform enhancements, system integrations, and analysis and resolution of complex production issues. Our products include:
