FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt - Overtime pursuant to Collective Bargaining Agreement or Human Resources and Labor Relations Policy

EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period

CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position is currently 8:30 a.m. 

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under direction, provides home based therapy, conducts screenings, performs intake assessments and reviews case management services within a Person Centered Planning approach to pregnant women and children through age 6. Requests referrals for ongoing services within Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) direct operated or contract programs with the goal of moving consumers to a level of care consistent with their clinical presentation. Implements program goals and activities in keeping with program philosophy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs direct clinical services, including, evidenced based therapy, assessments for pregnant women and children through age 6, and their families, crisis intervention, intakes, treatment plans, case management and transition services.

Performs indirect clinical services, including, timely and complete case documentation following Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) policies and procedures, confirms diagnosis to make the most suitable, least restrictive, and medically necessary clinical recommendations, and assists client and/or family in obtaining appropriate programs and resources.

Provides follow up case management services for consumers to assist in obtaining necessary services, coordinating those services until the consumer is transitioned to an ongoing service provider.

Maintains accurate and up to date clinical documentation, including, assessments, progress notes, treatment plans and other required documentation.

Ensures administrative paperwork is accurate and up to date, including, staff activity logs, statistical reports, attendance, mileage reports, and case lists.

Participates in agency and system staff meetings.

Conducts thorough, accurate, and clinically sound triage and screening with consumers, guardians, and family members in a timely manner.

Requests appropriate authorizations for services provided, monitors utilization of services, requests re-authorizations or continuations as appropriate.

Ensures service authorizations are current.

Serves on community mental health or community-based committees as directed.

Coordinates, consults and provides liaison work with other agencies and systems.

May supervise the work of department interns.

May assume the administrative responsibilities of a Clinical Supervisor in their absence.

Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Doctorate in Psychology or a directly related mental health field from an accredited college or university

  • Two (2) years clinical experience working in a mental health setting

  • One (1) year clinical experience working with pregnant women and/or children through age 6

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Previous community mental health experience with children, adolescents, and adults

  • Knowledge of Macomb County Provider Network

  • Two (2) years clinical experience working with pregnant women and/or children through age 6

Required Licenses or Certifications

  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Limited Licensed Master of Social Work (LLMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC), Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP), or Licensed Psychologist (LP)

  • Possession of required state licensure appropriate to position and ability to meet privileging and credentialing guidelines

  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel

Preferred Licenses or Certifications

  • Certification with the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) or an approved development plan

  • Infant Mental Health (IMH) level 2 endorsement, or state waiver in place

  • Working knowledge of resources within MCCMH and outside of Macomb County Community Mental Health

  • Considerable knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code/401 criteria

  • Knowledge of mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and developmental disabilities

  • Direct clinical services for pregnant women and children

  • Knowledge of techniques to de-escalate/interact in potentially dangerous situations

  • Knowledge of applicable computer applications
