What is the opportunity?
Reporting to the Managing Director & Global Head, Community Impact, the Vice President and Head of Community Impact, RBC Capital Markets Canada will manage RBC Capital Markets' citizenship agenda and community investment activities across Canada. This role sits at the intersection of financial services, social purpose, and stakeholder engagement - bringing together the firm's philanthropic ambitions and priorities, and employee engagement programs into a coherent, strategic, high-impact citizenship platform.
The Vice President will serve as the primary steward of RBC Capital Markets' social impact strategy in Canada, managing the firm's participation in the RBC Foundation Canada and leading the design and execution of Capital Markets-specific citizenship programs. They will partner closely with the Client & Marketing Strategy group, Corporate Communications, and counterparts across RBC Wealth Management and Personal Banking, and Commercial Banking, as well as the Community Impact team at the Enterprise level.
Operating within the context of Canada's most prominent financial institutions, this role requires an individual who can navigate the complexity of a large, matrixed organization while building genuine, lasting relationships with nonprofit partners, community leaders, and internal executives. The Vice President will bring a strong command of the Canadian philanthropic and regulatory landscape, including the laws governing charitable organizations and Canada Revenue Agency requirements for registered charities.

What will you do?
Strategic Leadership & Planning
Support in the development and execution of the Canadian citizenship and impact strategy for RBC Capital Markets, ensuring alignment with RBC's enterprise-wide Purpose Framework, global Citizenship priorities, and the firm's Canadian business objectives.
Translate complex, long-term strategic goals into actionable annual plans, clear milestones, and measurable outcomes, presenting progress regularly to Canadian senior leadership and the Donations Committee.
Manage the annual strategic review of Canada's citizenship and philanthropy portfolio, identifying opportunities to deepen impact, streamline programming, and respond to emerging community and stakeholder needs.
Represent RBC Capital Markets Canada in cross-functional strategic forums, including joint working groups with RBC Enterprise, RBC Wealth Management, and Personal and Commercial Banking, to ensure cohesion across the firm's Canadian community investment activities.
Stay abreast of trends in corporate citizenship, social finance, and impact measurement in the Canadian context, translating insights into strategy recommendations for senior leadership.
RBC Foundation Canada & Community Investment
Oversee RBC Capital Markets' participation in the RBC Foundation Canada, a joint Foundation entity operated in collaboration with RBC Enterprise and other RBC businesses, including Wealth Management, Personal Banking and Commercial Banking.
Manage and optimize Capital Markets' philanthropic budget in Canada, ensuring all community investments align to strategic priorities, RBC internal policies, and Canadian law governing registered charities and non-profit organizations.
Build and activate a portfolio of national and local charitable partnerships in key markets where RBCCM operates - including Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver, and Halifax - aligned to the RBC Foundation's thematic priorities such as economic opportunity, mental health, climate resilience, and Indigenous prosperity.
Support the operations of the CM Canada Donations Committee, acting as steward and ensuring the Committee's mandate, governance processes, and communications to executive members remain succinct, rigorous, and strategically aligned.
Lead the identification and due diligence of new charitable partnerships, managing the full lifecycle from discovery, onboarding, and grant administration through to impact reporting and renewal decisions.
Manage disaster relief, crisis response, and emergency funding initiatives in partnership with RBC Enterprise and relevant RBC business units, ensuring timely and appropriate support to Canadian communities in need.
Corporate Citizenship & Employee Engagement
Closely partner with the Brand Marketing team to strategically support the charitable partnerships across our key brand community sponsorships and initiatives including RBC RBC Charity Day and RBC Race for the Kids, and support in the activation of these programs.
Project manage, execute, and promote the RBC Purpose Framework and corporate citizenship programs in Canada, including employee volunteering, board matching, the RBC Celebration of Impact, and employee fundraising campaigns.
Design and deliver employee citizenship engagement initiatives that foster a culture of giving, volunteerism, and social purpose across CM's Canadian workforce, working in close coordination with Human Resources and Internal Communications.
Collaborate with Brand Marketing, Corporate Communications, and agency partners to develop compelling external marketing and communications campaigns that build brand awareness of flagship charity partnerships, corporate citizenship initiatives, and RBC Capital Markets' philanthropic impact in the community.
Work with Corporate Communications on internal communications and reporting on citizenship activities, translating program outcomes into narratives that resonate with employees, leadership, and clients.
Community Impact & Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic advisor on topics relevant to corporate citizenship, community investment, and social impact within the Canadian capital markets context.
Work in close partnership with the Community Impact team to ensure CM's Canadian citizenship activities are accurately and compellingly reflected in RBC's Enterprise reports.
Engage proactively with key external stakeholders - including nonprofit leaders, industry associations, government bodies, Indigenous communities, and advocacy organizations - to build trust, inform strategy, and amplify shared impact.
Measurement, Reporting & Governance
Establish and maintain a rigorous performance measurement framework for all citizenship and community investment activities in Canada, tracking outputs, outcomes, and long-term impact against defined strategic goals.
Measure and regularly report on the performance of the philanthropic strategy and activities against global and regional goals, synthesizing data into clear, executive-ready reporting for senior leadership, the CM Donations Committee, and RBC Enterprise.
Ensure all philanthropic and citizenship activities adhere to applicable governance standards, including CRA compliance, RBC Foundation Canada governance requirements, and internal controls and audit processes.
Collaborate with CM Citizenship counterparts in the U.S., the UK, and APAC to deliver and support the global Citizenship strategy, contributing to cross-regional learning and best practice sharing.
Maintain accurate records, program documentation, and budget tracking in alignment with RBC's internal systems and reporting cadences.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
Bachelor's Degree in Social Enterprise, Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field.
Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in corporate citizenship, philanthropy and social impact within a large, multinational corporate organization or a national non-profit organization.
Demonstrated track record of developing and executing philanthropic or corporate citizenship strategies at scale, with measurable community impact.
Proven experience managing significant philanthropic or program budgets, with a strong understanding of financial stewardship, budget oversight, and CRA compliance requirements for Canadian registered charities and non-profits.
Deep knowledge of the Canadian charitable and non-profit sector, including regulatory frameworks, philanthropic trends, and community investment best practices.
Exceptional ability to synthesize complex information into succinct, compelling narratives and frameworks for senior executives and diverse stakeholder audiences.
Proven people management experience, with the ability to lead, coach, and develop a team in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, with demonstrated ability to build trust and navigate effectively across a large, matrixed organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing executive presentations, external communications campaigns, and stakeholder reports.
High proficiency in all MS Office tools, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and projects in a dynamic, high-pressure corporate environment while maintaining rigorous attention to detail.
Nice to have:
Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, or equivalent) with a focus on Social Impact, Sustainability, Business, or Communications.
Direct experience working within or alongside a large Canadian financial institution or professional services firm.
Experience leading Indigenous community engagement initiatives and/or familiarity with Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action as they relate to corporate citizenship.
Prior experience developing and executing integrated external communications and brand campaigns in partnership with marketing and agency teams.
Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset, given the national scope and engagement in Quebec markets.

Total value of community investments deployed in Canada annually, including grants, charitable contributions, and matched employee donations managed through the RBC Foundation Canada and CM's charitable budget.
Breadth and quality of nonprofit partnerships activated nationally and in key local markets, measured by the number of active, strategic partnerships; partner satisfaction scores; and renewal rates.
Number of individuals and communities reached through CM-funded programs, tracked through partner impact reporting and aligned to RBC Foundation Canada's impact metrics.
Strategic Alignment & Execution
Quality and timeliness of the annual citizenship and community investment strategy, assessed through approval at the Donations Committee and alignment to enterprise-wide Citizenship priorities.
On-time, on-budget delivery of all flagship programs and initiatives, including, Charity Day, employee volunteering campaigns, and board matching programs.
Effectiveness of cross-functional collaboration, assessed through feedback from key internal partners across Brand Marketing, Corporate Communications, HR, Legal, and RBC Enterprise counterparts.
Employee Engagement & Culture
Volume and quality of employee participation in citizenship programs, including volunteer hours, fundraising participation rates, and board matching uptake across CM's Canadian workforce.
Employee sentiment scores related to purpose and social impact, captured through RBC's internal engagement surveys and pulse checks.
Quality and reach of internal citizenship communications, measured by readership, engagement metrics, and feedback from business line leaders.
External Reputation
External recognition and brand perception related to CM's citizenship activities, including media coverage, award nominations, and partner testimonials.
Effectiveness of stakeholder engagement, assessed through the depth and breadth of relationships held with key community, nonprofit, government, and Indigenous stakeholders in Canada.

Pay Range
The expected pay range for this position is:
