Description
- Serve as initial point of contact for the public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answer phones, take messages, screen and direct calls, and generally facilitate communication within the department and between the department staff and the community.
- During peak periods of work, returns calls for Division Managers scheduling time for manager response.
- Provide information and general assistance to the public and County staff regarding Public Works services and programs.
- Receive, input, and track customer complaints, requests for service and general feedback using the current electronic system.
- Collect, sort, and distribute incoming mail and faxes; process outgoing mail and faxes.
- Complete required department filing accurately and within established timeframes.
- Fulfill public requests for copies of aerials and maps, and distribute permits.
- Assist with department records management requirements and public disclosure requests.
- Receive and input permits and other data into computer systems and collect permitting fees.
- Serve as front counter cashier.
- Maintain office supplies inventory.
- Maintain and operate office machinery, arranging for repair/services.
- Complete copying, collating, and distributing tasks as required.
- Create correspondence, forms, and other material for the office.
- Maintain a clean and tidy front office space and waiting area.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Assist with special projects as needed.

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience working in an office setting.
- One (1) year of customer service experience.
- One (1) year of cashiering experience.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License.

Occasional travel may be required for training opportunities and /or meetings; must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle in all weather conditions and levels of daylight. Employee may be required to utilize his/her private vehicle in the performance of the job duties but will be reimbursed for mileage.
Work is typically scheduled between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM Monday through Friday; however, at times there are variations in working hours that will require work outside of this schedule, including occasional evening and weekend work. Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality are required.
