Description / Job Summary
This position as Technical Service Dairy Application Scientist is an internal facing position with the NOAM Dairy Technical Service team. This role will support remote Technical Service Scientists by executing lab and pilot plant projects that they generate for their customers. This role will also execute knowledge gain projects to support technical growth of the Dairy Tech Service team. The position requires a technical scientist with experience setting up and executing science-based experiments. Experience or knowledge in in Dairy Science and in using sensory testing is a benefit. The candidate must demonstrate technical leadership, intellectual curiosity, problem solving and project management skills.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Remote Technical Account Managers to understand objectives of their projects, and be able to design and execute projects to accomplish these objectives.
- Execute projects to expand the Dairy team’s technical knowledge related to specific Dairy product sub-categories or related to Tate & Lyle ingredients
- Conceptualize, design, and execute projects in a scientific and statistical manner in collaboration with team members.
- Execute projects in the pilot plant using known and industry recognized processing procedures using a wide range of industry standard processing equipment.
- Learn how to operate and run relevant pilot plant equipment.
- Translate project data into meaningful results and conclusions. Provide recommendations and communicate results in a clear and concise manner
- Deliver customer and/or internal technical presentations, as needed.
- Other duties as required to support the NOAM Dairy Technical Service team
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or a BS degree with at least 2 years of experience is required, preferably in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related area of study.
- Expertise in writing technical summaries, reports, and presentations
- Knowledge of dairy science, dairy products formulating, and dairy products processing
- Demonstrates ability to deliver results where high levels of ambiguity initially existed. Good problem-solving skills and quick decision-making capability.
- Ability to navigate a matrixed environment and build strong relationships with internal peers, sales, commercial and customers
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Highly self-motivated and ability to work independently

Tate & Lyle complies with all local/state regulations requiring salary range transparency. When determining final compensation, we take into consideration: skillset, job scope, knowledge, prior experience, cost of living, market data, budget availability, and other factors as permitted by law.
The salary range for this position is: $57,000 - $85,000.
