Schedule:
Full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Work will be performed during an eight-hour shift within the Fisher House operating hours of 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Federal holidays are normally excluded unless otherwise requested.
Summary:
The Housekeeper will provide daily cleaning and housekeeping services throughout the Memphis Fisher House, including guest suites, bathrooms, common areas, kitchen, laundry areas, offices, and assigned exterior spaces. The position also includes guest-room turnover, linen handling, supply replenishment, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for Veterans and their families.
Requirements:
- Previous housekeeping, janitorial, or custodial experience.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English.
- Strong customer-service skills and professional conduct.
- Ability to successfully complete VA orientation, fingerprinting, background investigation, and PIV badging.
- Ability to complete required safety, OSHA/SDS, privacy, and facility training.
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment.
- Must maintain a professional appearance and reliable attendance.
Duties:
- Clean guest rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, kitchen, laundry areas, hallways, and stairwells.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, disinfect surfaces, and remove trash.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, sinks, showers, toilets, counters, and fixtures.
- Clean kitchen and laundry appliances and surrounding areas.
- Prepare and clean guest suites following checkouts and before new guest arrivals.
- Remove used linens, make beds, and restock clean linens and guest supplies.
- Collect and organize dirty linens for laundering.
- Replenish restroom, kitchen, laundry, and guest-room supplies.
- Clean windows, mirrors, doors, furniture, and high-touch surfaces.
- Maintain assigned exterior areas, including patios, porches, sidewalks, and trash areas.
- Report damaged items, low supplies, or maintenance concerns.
- Coordinate daily priorities with Fisher House staff.
- Follow required cleaning schedules and promptly correct any identified deficiencies.
