This position serves as a senior-level inspection resource, independently manages multiple inspection priorities, supports resolution of complex quality issues, and provides technical guidance to other inspectors to ensure product quality and on-time manufacturing support.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex dimensional, visual, and final inspections of precision components using engineering drawings, specifications, inspection procedures, and established acceptance criteria.
  • Independently operate and interpret results from precision measurement and inspection equipment, including CMM, vision systems, height gauges, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, surface/profile measurement equipment, and other applicable metrology tools.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, inspection requirements, and customer specifications to determine product conformity.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple inspection assignments simultaneously based on production schedules, customer commitments, material availability, and management direction to minimize manufacturing delays.
  • Maintain expected inspection productivity, accuracy, and turnaround time while ensuring inspection quality is not compromised.
  • Accurately document inspection results in applicable quality systems, inspection reports, travelers, data sheets, and other required records, ensuring complete and traceable quality documentation.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource within the inspection team, assisting with complex inspections, measurement methodology, equipment usage, and troubleshooting.
  • Verify inspection equipment is within calibration requirements before use and maintain inspection equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and controlled condition.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inspection efficiency, measurement methods, workflow, documentation, and quality controls and actively participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain effective communication with the supervisor and cross-functional teams regarding inspection status, workload, priorities, quality concerns, and potential production impacts.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, take ownership of assigned responsibilities, and escalate issues promptly when necessary.
  • Follow all applicable quality, safety, EHS, cleanroom, handling, and company procedures.

Qualifications / Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Control inspection, dimensional inspection, precision manufacturing, or a related quality/manufacturing environment. Experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and inspection criteria.
  • Proficiency with common precision measurement equipment and automated/manual inspection systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex inspections independently and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and data integrity.
  • Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize competing inspection requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to identify abnormalities, exercise appropriate judgment, and escalate quality risks proactively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production.
  • Ability to coach or provide technical guidance to less-experienced inspectors.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, reliability, and continuous-improvement mindset.
  • Must be comfortable working in a controlled cleanroom environment and able to follow all applicable cleanroom protocols, including gowning requirements, contamination-control practices, material-handling procedures, and established EHS and safety requirements.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or formal training in Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical Technology, Metrology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Relevant professional certifications or training in GD&T, dimensional metrology, CMM operation/programming, quality systems, or problem-solving methodologies are preferred.
