The Ohio State University College of Dentistry seeks candidates for a full-time, clinical track faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. This position entails didactic teaching of predoctoral and postdoctoral students, clinical teaching of predoctoral students and oral pathology residents and participation in the College’s dental faculty practice, including the oral biopsy service and clinical consultations. The position offers opportunities for mentoring predoctoral and postdoctoral students in scholarly work and participation in College/University service is expected. Other duties include supporting the overall mission of the division, participating in university and college governance, contributing to the college’s continuing education programs, and practicing in the college’s affiliated intramural Dental Faculty Practice. Visa sponsorship is available for qualified candidates.

Performance Objectives

  • Promote evidence-based teaching skills in an education setting, proficiency in oral pathology and a strong track record of scholarly activity.
  • Successful participation in and directorship of predoctoral and residency level courses, including preparation and distribution of course materials, course scheduling, creation of course assessments and managing course grades.
  • Provide interdisciplinary mentoring to students.
  • Demonstrate collaboration between college divisions.
  • Participate in college, university, local, state or national committees. Full professors-leadership position at university or national level committees.
  • Membership in professional organizations and contributions to professional activities outside of the university.
  • Continued engagement in scholarly activity
  • Provide excellent patient care both in the clinic and at the microscope.
  • Success at obtaining extramural funding (tenure track position only).
  • Embody The Ohio State University's Shared Values.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: A valid DDS/DMD or equivalent, eligibility for a regular or limited teaching license in the state of Ohio, and successful completion of residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology from a CODA-accredited training program.  Certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.  Candidates with evidence of research or scholarly activity are encouraged to apply.

Desired: Post-graduate dental education or an advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in an area related to pathology. Eligibility for a New York license.

The College of Dentistry (CoD) distinguishes itself nationally by engaging faculty throughout the campus, around the state, and across the country in a host of experiences that provide enriching opportunities. The College of Dentistry is Ohio’s only state-supported dental school, and it educates more than 60% of the state’s dentists. Comprised of eleven divisions, the College supports nine advanced education programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. In pre-doctoral clinical education, eight small group practice clinics that focus on comprehensive care will provide an ideal environment for dental and dental hygiene students to work in a vertically integrated model for delivering care.

Department Information

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology is committed to educating students in the areas of oral diagnosis and oral pathology. Our Oral Pathology Residency program is designed to provide the post-graduate dental resident with the clinical and microscopic skills necessary for the practice of oral pathology. Our highly experienced professional pathologists have provided dentists and physicians with microscopic diagnoses for tissue biopsies for more than 40 years.
