EMS Dispatcher

 

 

 

GENERAL OVERVIEW

 

Coordinates all pre-hospital emergent and non-emergent communication between 911 centers, the public, local EMS providers, and the medic command physicians to ensure prompt quality care to the residents of the surrounding communities

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinates emergent and non-emergent communication between 911 centers, the public, the local EMS providers, and the medic command physicians.
• Coordinates system-wide requests for EMS based patient transportation.
• Maintains appropriate documents and records them in a proper fashion.
• Coordinates all requests from local EMS providers and the emergency department for helicopter transports at the scene and in the emergency department. Performs multiple tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
• Maintain and distribute pre-hospital medications and supplies to local emergency medical services.
• Prioritizes several pertinent tasks in a timely manner. Maintains professional composure under adverse conditions.
• Operates all equipment and assures proper operation is maintained.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum

• High School Graduate
• Knowledge normally acquired through some additional specific knowledge or skills acquired through programs or schooling 12 months or less in duration such as computer operations or nursing assistant programs preferred.
• A minimum of one year of active EMS field experience with demonstrated experience in Radio and Telephone communications and EMS Dispatch procedures preferred.
