The Department of Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is recruiting a per-diem/part-time academic surgical pathologist with subspecialty expertise in head and neck pathology. The position is open rank and both recent fellowship graduates and mid-career physicians are strongly encouraged to apply. BIDMC is a tertiary care facility with 743 licensed beds and an internationally renowned principal teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School with NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center-affiliated Cancer Center.
The department will be engaged in the newly announced and exciting clinical collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, BIDMC, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England’s only free-standing adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will bring together world-class clinicians to deliver transformational, precision medicine in an environment solely dedicated to defying cancer.
We seek an energetic, team-oriented head & neck pathologist who will contribute to the Department’s diagnostic excellence, academic mission, and continued innovation. Additional expertise in cytopathology and/or another surgical pathology subspecialty is a significant plus. The ideal candidate will have:
Strong diagnostic skills in head & neck oncologic surgical pathology
A collaborative spirit and interest in working closely with molecular pathologists and oncologists to support precision oncology and clinical trials
An interest in teaching and mentoring fellows, residents, and medical students
An academic trajectory of scholarly interests in head & neck pathology
The successful candidate will join a collegial team of faculty, fellows, and residents committed to world-class diagnostics, education, and discovery.
Applicants must be board certified in Pathology (AP or AP/CP) and hold a valid Massachusetts medical license or the ability to obtain one.

Pay Range:
$129 - $154/hrThe base pay range reflects what Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (HMFP) reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation within this range may be determined based on several factors, including academic appointment, work experience, specialty training, geography of work location, anticipated productivity, FTE basis, and role expectations. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which may include bonuses for productivity and quality HMFP also offers a comprehensive and generous employee benefits program to eligible employees, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as retirement plan(s) with employer contributions.
