Job Summary
As an Airfreight Transport Manager, you are responsible for the safe and efficient coordination of all transport movements between the warehouse, aircraft stands and external logistics partners. You will lead a team of approximately 20 employees and ensure that all cargo is handled on time and in accordance with aviation standards. You will be working in the heart of a 24/7 international cargo operation where your decisions directly impact performance, safety and punctuality.
Your activities
- Oversee and direct all transport flows across Schiphol, ensuring cargo is moved smoothly and safely between the warehouse, aircraft and other operational areas.
- Allocate staff, vehicles and equipment on a daily basis, aligning resources with flight schedules, peak periods and unexpected operational changes.
- Monitor capacity and utilization of transport movements, adjusting plans to maintain high efficiency and reliable performance.
- Maintain close communication with the warehouse, cargo office, drivers, planners and external partners to ensure a seamless end-to-end operation.
- Ensure accurate administration of all transport activities, including documentation, route records, tracking and reporting of deviations or incidents.
- Lead, coach and support your team of around 20 transport employees, promoting safe working practices, strong teamwork and high-quality execution.
- Take charge during operational disruptions, coordinate rapid solutions and ensure all stakeholders remain informed throughout the process.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s level education (HBO-level), preferably in logistics, aviation or supply chain.
- Leadership experience, ideally within a logistics, transport or operational environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills; able to maintain structure and clarity under pressure.
- A proactive decision-maker with a hands-on mindset.
- Strong command of both Dutch and English.
- Willing to work in rotating shifts (morning/evening/night/weekend).
- A valid driver’s license (B).
