About the role
We are seeking an experienced Hydraulic Service Technician to join our Rotorua based team. This hands-on role involves the manufacture, servicing, repair and fault diagnosis of hydraulic and mechanical systems, both on customer sites and in the workshop.
You will work across a range of hydraulic equipment and systems, delivering high quality technical solutions while maintaining strong safety and customer service standards.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose, service and repair hydraulic and mechanical systems and components
- Repair, assemble, test and commission hydraulic equipment
- Fault find hydraulic systems with or without schematics
- Read and interpret hydraulic and engineering drawings, including open and closed loop systems
- Manufacture and install hydraulic hoses, pipes and tubing, ensuring correct sizing, flow capacity and compatibility
- Test valves, cylinders, pumps and motors using appropriate test equipment
- Safely operate and service accumulators and hydraulic test rigs
- Complete job cards, timesheets and service documentation accurately
- Liaise professionally with customers to ensure high levels of satisfaction
- Support planned maintenance, condition monitoring and asset management activities
- Work in accordance with company procedures, quality standards, and health & safety requirements
Skills and experience
- Proven experience as a Hydraulic Service Technician, Mechanical Fitter or similar trade role
- Strong knowledge of major brand hydraulic components
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Relevant trade qualification (or at least 3 years’ relevant industry experience)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Customer-focused and able to work independently or as part of a team
