Overview

Position: Chief Financial Officer Location: Administrative Office, 195 Lambs Lane, Charlottesville, VA, 22901 Position Status: Full time, Exempt Compensation Type: Salary Salary Range: $140,000-$166,000 Hours per Week: 40 Reports to: Chief Executive Officer  BGCCVA Mission: To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible members of the communities in which they live. 

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as the top financial executive and a key member of the senior leadership team at Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO is responsible for the overall strategic financial management of the organization, providing leadership on financial reporting, long-range fiscal planning, and internal controls. The CFO guides financial policy and works closely with the CEO, the board, and other executives to ensure the organization's financial health, sustainability, and legal compliance.

Responsibilities

Financial and strategic leadership:

• Oversee all financial, accounting, investment, and asset management functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable laws and regulations.
• Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and other senior leaders to influence organization-wide strategy and business planning.
• Guide the Finance and Investment Committees of the Board in financial oversight, policy implementation, and investment strategies.

Financial planning and analysis:

• Lead financial planning activities, including annual budgets, cash flow analysis, and long-term fiscal projections.
• Develop and implement predictive financial models to provide insight into the organization's operations and future business plans.
• Define and implement metrics providing insight into operating productivity and progress against strategic financial objectives (expense productivity, comparative operating performance, donor development and yield, durability of commitment, mix of funding sources, etc.)
• Prepare and communicate monthly, bi-monthly, and annual financial statements and reports to the senior leadership and the Board.

Oversight and compliance:

• Manage and certify the annual audit, working with outside auditors and the Audit Committee of the Board.
• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including state and federal filings.
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls and financial procedures to ensure best practices and mitigate risk.

Investment and resource management:

• Oversee the management of investments and endowments in line with the board's asset allocation policy.
• Protect the organization's financial assets and maximize its financial well-being.
• Work in partnership with resource development staff to ensure the appropriate tracking and reporting of gifts and revenue.

Stakeholder engagement:

• Serve as a liaison to external financial partners, including auditors, bankers, and investment advisors.
• Cultivate relationships with board members, staff, volunteers, community groups, and other agencies to advance the organization's mission.

Team management:

• Lead the finance team to ensure their sustained development and positive impact on the organization.
• Build and foster a positive culture of human-centeredness, excellence, and teamwork

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a senior financial manager
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent of interest
• Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, long-range fiscal planning, and developing creative financial management strategies and metrics
• Familiarity with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards and regulations
• Ability to effectively present financial information to various audiences, including the board of directors and executive leadership
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills to motivate staff and build relationships with stakeholders
