Job Summary
Monitors and directs the operation of Vistra’s generation resources as efficiently and economically as possible in accordance with guidelines to meet real time market requirements.Job Description
Executes real time strategy of MISO/CAISO position; Monitors and directs the operation of Vistra’s generation resources in real time to ensure most economic optimized dispatch in compliance with ISO Market Rules, NERC Standards and Vistra Policies
Key Accountabilities:
Coordinates and executes RT strategy with DA Traders
Creates, submits and adjusts hourly Energy Offer Curves to optimize portfolio
Monitors real time position and coordinates DA Traders to material changes based on unit status and ratings
Continuously monitors generation requirements and generation output levels ensuring real-time obligations are met
Monitors gas burn, coordinates gas needs with Gas Desk and executes changes to real time offers to optimize
Analyze and execute optimal energy storage and battery strategy
•Ensures fleet runs at most cost-effective level via GCS
•Communicate with Transmission Operator on requests related to the reliability of the bulk transmission system
• Coordinate with transmission team congestion/constraints that may require change in real time strategy or unit dispatch
•Interfaces with plant personnel to specify unit start and stop times, real-time unit deployments, and current status of units
•Ensures ancillary service obligations and deployments are met
Coordinates testing and maintenance with Operations; submit accurate outage tickets to ISO and communicate timely unit status to ISOs
•Maintains accurate and timely daily log
•Anticipates critical operating conditions and takes steps to avoid unfavorable outcomes
•Recognizes changing market conditions and initiates appropriate action
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements
•3 years experience in powerplant operations, dispatch, trading or commodity risk management
Commercial experience preferred
NERC Certification a plus
•High school diploma or equivalent
•Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
Key Metrics
•Specific Market Portal experience
•Proficient in Microsoft excel
•12-hour shift schedule which includes days, nights, weekends and holidays
•MISO/CAISO market experience
•Experience in solar and battery storage
