Description

Schedule: Employees must have availability for scheduled shifts throughout the week, including weekdays and occasional weekends as needed. Shifts may be scheduled anytime between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM, with schedules and daily hours varying based on business needs.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Office Assistant at the Business and Employment Resource Center (BERC) plays an important role in creating a welcoming, accessible, and well-organized environment for job seekers, businesses, and community members. This position combines customer service, administrative support, community engagement, and event coordination to help BERC deliver valuable employment and business resources.
The Office Assistant will serve as a key point of contact for visitors and callers, helping individuals navigate available services and connecting them with appropriate resources. The position also supports the day-to-day operations of the center, including coordinating meetings and workshops, maintaining records, assisting with community events, and helping ensure the office is prepared to serve the public.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, staying organized, and contributing to programs that support local residents and businesses. Strong communication, customer service, organization, and multitasking skills are essential. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, social media, digital marketing tools, and design platforms such as Canva is desirable.

MINIMUM AND DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and one year of increasingly responsible office administrative or secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
There are two (2) vacancies in the Economic Development Department. This recruitment is being conducted to fill two (2) vacancies and will establish an eligibility list, which may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur during the active status of the eligibility list.
