Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. Northrop Grumman Marine Systems is seeking a Staff Engineer Mission Assurance in Sunnyvale, CA.

What you will get to do:

  • Lead structured problem solving to identify root cause, drive corrective actions, prevent recurrence, and verify effectiveness through closure. Prepare data- and evidence-based findings, gap assessments, compliance reviews, and process evaluations to support corrective action, verification, and closure. Use this work to shape risk-based and process audits, critical process surveillance, and other compliance control activities.
  • Coordinate functional leadership inputs and engage the campus ecosystem to assess challenges at the point of work, identify trends, perform analysis, and develop projects and studies that strengthen culture, address compliance risk, and support preventive actions.
  • Plan and facilitate value stream mapping events, Socratic seminars, and other structured working sessions to align stakeholders and support preventive actions.
  • Lead mission assurance and QMS initiatives from scope through closure, translating broad direction into defined work, milestones, deliverables, and executive outputs.
  • Develop core work products, including master project plans, shared files, trackers, dashboards, presentations, and schedules. Manage challenges independently and raise support needs in a timely manner.
  • Translate complex situations into process flows and other triangulated relationships that clarify issues, controls and dependencies, and paths to resolution.
  • Mentor engineers and teams in audit readiness, compliance discipline, and fact-based problem solving.
  • Use AI-enabled tools and metrics, as appropriate, to inform scope, planning, and decisions.

The ideal candidate must be able work independently with limited supervision, have strong written, analytical, communication, and presentation skills, ability to define mission-compliant work, drive execution through closure, and coordinate cross-functional contributors using master plans, shared files, and status tracking, and the ability to collaborate and influence across functions and levels.

  • Experience with ISO 9001, including internal audit, document control, nonconformance, corrective and preventive action, management review, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and corrective action to closure.
  • Experience planning and conducting audits, assessments, or compliance review.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and other project management tools to manage shared files, action tracking, status reporting, and stakeholder coordination.
  • US. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
