Position Summary

In this Director level role, you will have the opportunity to have a significant impact in lowering costs for branded pharmaceutical utilization for CVS Caremark; a proud member of the CVS Health family of companies.

In this position, you will assume a highly visible role serving as the point person for value realization on high-value rebate contracts across Commercial, Health Exchange, Medicare, and Managed Medicaid segments. This includes ensuring that contracted discounts on branded pharmaceutical products are accurately realized, reconciled, and reported, as well as resolving related manufacturer disputes. You will engage with cross-functional teams across the organization and partner on high-profile negotiation strategies, drawing on value performance insights and dispute trends to inform them. You will also help shape the financial outlook against which the Caremark Government team's performance is measured.


We are searching for a confident, analytical professional with a background in healthcare or contracting who has led and cultivated multiple business relationships. Your strategic vision, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving will aid in your success, as will the ability to interpret contract terms and performance data and turn them into practical, mutually acceptable outcomes. A professional presence and excellent presentation and communication skills are essential for engaging with manufacturers and internal colleagues.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Value realization: You will serve as the point person for tracking and validating the value delivered under manufacturer rebate agreements, ensuring contracted terms are accurately realized, reconciled, and reported. Your insights will help inform the financial framework that the Caremark Government team operates within. This includes resolving rebate and contract disputes with manufacturers in a timely, mutually acceptable manner that protects CVS Caremark's contractual position and preserves the relationship.
  • Negotiation strategy partnership: You will work closely with the Executive Director and Vice President of Trade Relations, supplying insight from value performance, utilization data, forecasts, and dispute trends to shape negotiation strategies that will optimize contract performance across our branded pharmaceutical manufacturers.
  • Relationship management: You will build and sustain strong, constructive relationships with manufacturers and industry partners, serving as the primary contact on rebate issues for your assigned segments.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: You will coordinate with other leaders responsible for PBM value, such as finance, clinical, operations, and client teams, to align on value drivers, forecast assumptions, and dispute positions, creating synergies across the business.
  • Executive communication: You will develop and deliver executive-level presentations that communicate value performance, forecast shifts, and dispute outcomes to senior leadership, supporting informed decisions on strategy and financial direction.
  • Accountability: You will be accountable for the integrity of rebate contracting outcomes with assigned manufacturers, from execution through realized value.
  • Leadership ability: You have the capacity to expand role and manage additional responsibilities. Strong people developer and manager
  • Workplace: This position is a fully remote opportunity, ideally the candidate is on the east coast or Midwest and can work within EST or CST.


Required Qualifications
• A minimum of 8 years’ experience in managed care which may include PBM, Pharma, market access, account management, specialty pharmacy, or other payor experience.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, as necessary

• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to work with large claims and rebate data sets (Excel, SQL, Tableau, or similar tools)

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners

Preferred Qualifications
• 4+ Years of experience negotiating contracts in the Healthcare or PBM industry
• Strong knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical rebates, 340B/other government programs, and prescription benefit designs
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical pricing and reporting of pharmaceutical products

• Experience managing, negotiating, or resolving rebate or contract disputes with pharmaceutical manufacturers, including audit findings, invoice discrepancies, and contract interpretation issues

• Familiarity with formulary management and how formulary positioning affects rebate performance

Education
•Bachelor's degree required, Master’s or advanced degree strongly preferred

 

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,540.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
