Description
VHR Blueprint is conducting a search for an experienced Principal Compensation Consultant for a confidential opportunity in the Houston area.
This opportunity is ideal for a senior compensation professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong client leadership and business development experience. The Principal Compensation Consultant will lead complex compensation engagements, advise senior executives and HR leaders, guide project teams, and contribute to the growth of client relationships and new business.
What You'll Do
- Lead large-scale and complex compensation consulting engagements.
- Develop compensation strategies, philosophies, pay structures, job architectures, and incentive programs.
- Advise senior executives and HR leaders on compensation strategy, market competitiveness, and complex rewards challenges.
- Direct and interpret compensation analyses and translate findings into strategic recommendations.
- Manage senior-level client relationships and day-to-day engagement activities.
- Lead project teams and provide guidance and coaching to junior consultants.
- Identify and develop new client opportunities and expand existing engagements.
- Develop proposals and Statements of Work (SOWs), participate in contract discussions, and help move opportunities through the sales cycle.
- Leverage compensation technology, analytics, and emerging AI-enabled tools to develop innovative client solutions.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field.
- 8+ years of compensation consulting experience with demonstrated subject matter expertise.
- Deep knowledge of compensation strategy, job architecture, incentive plan design, market analysis, and regulatory considerations.
- Proven experience leading multiple large-scale projects and complex client engagements.
- Strong experience advising senior executives and HR leaders.
- Demonstrated business development experience, including developing client opportunities, proposals/SOWs, managing the sales process, and winning new business.
- Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Experience
Experience leading compensation engagements for global or complex organizations, advanced compensation analytics, compensation or survey management tools, technology-enabled compensation solutions, and developing innovative approaches or thought leadership is highly valued.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid | Minimum 3 days per week in office or with clients
