As an F5 Systems Engineer supporting Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter—and grow your skills as you go. Our work depends on an F5 Engineer joining our team to provide secure, expert traffic management leveraging F5 Local Traffic Manager, F5 Global Traffic, Tool Command Language (Tcl), and other advanced capabilities to support and enhance the client’s infrastructure.
HOW A F5 SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
- Manages the configuration on multiple physical and virtual F5 across multiple data centers
- Participates in the development and support of customer technical requirements
- Plans, designs, develops, implements, and operates F5 products such as LTM, ASM, BIG-IQ, and APM
- Provides clear technical documentation and written procedures for issues identified and addressed
- Proposes and implements system enhancements that improves the performance and reliability of the network security infrastructure
- Monitors and troubleshoots platform and OS based problems: network security infrastructure, and connectivity issues
- Performs launch testing for new software releases and the introduction of new features
- Collaborates with different technology towers to achieve common goals
- Applies capacity planning configuration changes as needed
- Addresses performance, scalability, and service architecture administration issues
- Coordinates equipment orders including physical or virtual appliances, as well as upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing the systems as needed
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Education: Bachelor of Science Degree, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination (10+ yrs) of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
- Experience: 7+ years of relevant F5 experience with F5 LTM, ASM, BIG-IQ, and/or APM administration and life cycle management including experience with advanced iRule creation and troubleshooting
- Technical Skills:
- Demonstrates knowledge of a broad range of technology towers i.e.: Storage, Virtualization, Intel, Networking, Data Center Migration and Disaster Recovery
- Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting network systems, switching, and routing protocol standards such as: TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, SDN, and 802.1x.
- Experience managing and troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and NTP in a large multi-site environment
- Knowledge of risk and controls landscape, ensuring company-wide standards are met
- Security Clearance Level:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
- Certifications Required:
- Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security
- Must have the F5 Certified Administrator certification or obtain the certification within 3 months of hire date
- Obtain one targeted F5 module certification (LTM, DNS, ASM, or APM) within an additional 90 days

The likely salary range for this position is $148,750 - $201,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.Scheduled Weekly Hours:
