Description
The Receiving Clerk is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and processing incoming shipments of raw materials, components, supplies, and other goods. This role plays a critical part in supporting production by ensuring that inventory is received in a timely manner, is undamaged, and matches purchase orders. The Receiving Clerk also maintains proper documentation and ensures items are stored appropriately within the warehouse or staging areas.
Essential Functions:
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming deliveries for accuracy and damage.
- Compare packing slips, purchase orders, and invoices to ensure correct quantities and items.
- Document and report any discrepancies, shortages, or damages to appropriate departments.
- Enter receiving information into ERP or inventory management systems accurately and promptly.
- Label and stage received materials in designated warehouses or production areas.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to unload and move goods
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the receiving area.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate with procurement, inventory control, and production teams to ensure material flow.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Assist with periodic inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Support shipping, warehousing, or production activities during downtime or peak periods.
- Assist in the return process of damaged or incorrect materials to suppliers.
- Participate in departmental meetings and process improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- 1+ year of experience in receiving, warehouse, or inventory control (manufacturing experience preferred)
- Familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand packing slips, purchase orders, and invoices.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain one.
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills
- Basic computer proficiency and data entry experience
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the workday.
- Manual dexterity to handle small parts and operate warehouse equipment.
- Exposure to warehouse and manufacturing environments, including noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company policy
