Description
The Acharya lab (www.seattlechildrens.org/directory/mridu-acharya) at Seattle Children’s Research Institute is hiring a scientist to join a rapidly expanding research program on understanding signaling mechanisms regulating immune responses. Research in our group is focused on studying mechanisms that lead to efficient antibody response to viruses and how these get dysregulated during development of autoimmunity. We also collaborate with the James lab and Rawlings lab at Seattle Children’s to used gene editing technology in B cells to manipulate genes and study changes in antibody responses For this position, we are seeking a highly motivated scientist to work with the group in performing experiments related to flow cytometry, ELISA, western blots and tissue culture experiments, and experiments involving immunization of mice and harvesting target tissues from mice. Additionally, the applicant will be responsible for data analysis, presentation of results and working together with other scientists in the group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design experiments to perform flow cytometry, western blot.
2. Design experiments to study activation of signaling proteins in B cells
3. Perform ELISA on serum samples acquired from mice to study antibody response
4. Assist with genotyping and management of mouse colony
5. Immunize mice with different viral antigens
6. Perform experiments on tissues harvested from mice.
7. Analyse data and present data at group meetings.
8. Contribute to writing for publication of results; generate figures for papers and grants.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or scientific discipline; may require a Master’s Degree for certain lab specialties.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a related area/laboratory setting.

Preferred
Research experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and tissue culture techniques is highly preferred.
Master’s Degree in applicable field/research specialty highly preferred.
Significant experience conducting research in area of specialization.
Some experience with laboratory management.
Compensation Range
$32.87 - $49.31 per hourSalary Information
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
