The Role:
Global Payments Solutions (GPS) is a leading provider of treasury, payments, liquidity and working capital solutions to Financial Institutions globally.
We are seeking an experienced Managing Director to serve as Co-Head of the EMEA Banks & PayTech business within GPS Financial Institutions Group (FIG).
This is a senior franchise leadership role responsible for driving business growth, leading a team of Treasury Sales Officers, managing strategic client relationships and shaping the future direction of one of the firm's most important Financial Institutions businesses.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a significant portfolio of banking, fintech and payments clients across EMEA and will play a central role in defining strategy, leading transformation initiatives, developing talent and delivering sustainable revenue growth. The role combines business leadership, client engagement, organisational development and change execution within a disciplined risk and governance framework.
Key Responsibilities:
Franchise Leadership & Business Management
- Co-lead the EMEA Banks & PayTech franchise within Global Payments Solutions.
- Serve as a member of the EMEA FIG Sales Management Team, contributing to business strategy, organisational priorities, resource allocation and governance.
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable business plans and measurable outcomes.
- Drive commercial performance, revenue growth and portfolio expansion across the franchise.
- Help shape the long-term growth strategy of the EMEA FIG business through market insight, client engagement and strategic leadership.
- Build a culture of accountability, execution excellence and continuous improvement.
Strategic Client Leadership
- Maintain executive-level responsibility for a selected portfolio of strategically important banking, fintech and payments clients.
- Develop and execute client strategies that deepen relationships, increase wallet share and create long-term franchise value.
- Act as a trusted adviser to senior client executives on treasury, payments, liquidity, transactional FX and broader transaction banking solutions.
- Identify emerging opportunities, market trends and industry developments that can drive client growth and strengthen Bank of America's competitive position.
- Represent Bank of America across senior client engagements, industry forums and strategic sector initiatives.
Revenue Growth & Deal Leadership
- Drive treasury revenue growth across a large and strategically important client portfolio.
- Originate, structure and execute complex, multi-product opportunities across payments, liquidity, cash management, trade finance, transactional FX and commercial card solutions.
- Lead strategic client pursuits and large-scale opportunities by coordinating Product, Banking, Credit, Risk, Operations and Implementation partners.
- Maintain a disciplined opportunity pipeline and deliver against agreed business objectives.
- Champion cross-sell and wallet expansion initiatives across the FIG client base.
Transformation & Change Leadership
- Lead business transformation initiatives that enhance client experience, improve scalability and strengthen franchise competitiveness.
- Drive adoption of new products, capabilities, servicing models and operating frameworks.
- Partner closely with Product, Operations and Technology teams to influence strategic priorities and investment decisions.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve organisational effectiveness and accelerate growth.
- Lead teams through periods of change while maintaining engagement, accountability and commercial momentum.
Talent & Organisational Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of Treasury Sales Officers and sales professionals.
- Foster an inclusive, performance-oriented culture built on accountability, collaboration and client focus.
- Develop future leaders through active coaching, sponsorship and succession planning.
- Ensure organisational capability evolves in line with business growth and strategic priorities.
- Attract, retain and develop top talent across the franchise.
Partnership & Stakeholder Management
- Partner closely with Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Product Management, Credit, Risk, Compliance, Operations and Technology teams.
- Influence decision-making across a broad matrix organisation and multiple geographies.
- Drive alignment between coverage, product and delivery teams to maximise client outcomes and business performance.
- Act as a senior advocate for FIG client needs across the broader GPS organisation.
Risk & Governance
- Balance commercial growth objectives with sound risk management and governance standards.
- Maintain strong awareness of regulatory, compliance, sanctions and operational considerations impacting client activity.
- Promote a strong culture of conduct, accountability and control excellence.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
What We Are Looking For
- Extensive experience in Financial Institutions coverage, Treasury Management Sales, Transaction Banking or Payments.
- Proven track record leading large, complex businesses and delivering sustainable revenue growth.
- Significant experience managing and developing high-performing sales and coverage teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic change, business transformation and organisational development initiatives.
- Strong commercial judgement and experience managing complex client portfolios across multiple countries and products.
- Deep understanding of the banking, fintech and payments landscape across EMEA.
- Proven ability to engage and influence senior client executives and internal stakeholders.
- Experience leading complex, multi-product client opportunities across a matrixed organisation.
- Ability to balance growth, risk, governance and client outcomes.
- Strong leadership presence, communication skills and strategic thinking capability.
The successful candidate will:
- Operate as a business leader rather than solely a sales manager.
- Drive sustainable commercial growth while strengthening franchise value.
- Build and develop high-performing teams and future leaders.
- Lead transformation initiatives that improve client outcomes and organisational effectiveness.
- Deepen strategic client relationships across the banking, fintech and payments ecosystem.
- Influence decisions across a broad and complex stakeholder environment.
- Balance growth ambitions with disciplined risk management and governance.
- Help shape the future direction of the EMEA FIG franchise.
