A leading financial institution in Seoul is seeking an Anti-Money Laundering Investigation Analyst to join their dedicated team. This role offers you the opportunity to play a vital part in safeguarding the integrity of banking operations by conducting thorough investigations and analyses related to anti-money laundering activities. You will be empowered to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all processes.

What you'll do:

  • Analyse transactions related to Requests for Information (RFIs) from ODC by accessing and reviewing data from branch systems on behalf of the Seoul branch, ensuring accuracy and compliance throughout the process.
  • Conduct sampling procedures based on established methodologies, identifying relevant transaction details and performing preliminary assessments to support anti-money laundering efforts.
  • Extract pertinent information from complex datasets, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail while adhering to regulatory requirements and internal guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers (RMs) and Operations teams when additional information is required, maintaining open lines of communication and fostering co-operation across departments.
  • Monitor timelines for each RFI diligently, managing deadlines effectively to ensure all necessary information is compiled and submitted within stipulated service level agreements outlined in Investigation Operating Manuals (OMs).
  • Perform investigative analysis as an AML Investigation Analyst (maker), following procedures detailed in Investigation OMs to maintain high standards of compliance.
  • Review customer profiles, transactional behaviour, and supporting documentation to identify unusual activities, red flags, and financial crime risks.
  • Document findings comprehensively, preparing clear reports that facilitate decision-making and further investigation as needed.
  • Review and assess external regulatory inquiries received from law enforcement and regulatory authorities, including customer and related-party screening, name matching and escalation assessments.
  • Maintain investigation registers, RFI logs, case trackers and management information (MI) reports to support governance, monitoring and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by sharing insights gained during investigations with colleagues, contributing to communal knowledge and best practices.
  • Participate actively in training sessions designed to enhance your understanding of anti-money laundering protocols and strengthen your analytical capabilities.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams in a considerate manner, promoting an inclusive approach to problem-solving and information gathering.

What you bring:

  • At least two years of experience working within banking industry, demonstrating a dependable track record of supporting anti-money laundering initiatives. Candidates with banking operations experience may also be considered
  • Strong English communication skills to interact effectively within the branch environment as well as with global teams
  • You possess strong analytical abilities that allow you to review complex transaction data methodically while maintaining sensitivity towards regulatory requirements.
  • Your interpersonal skills foster co-operation among colleagues and stakeholders, creating an inclusive atmosphere conducive to information sharing.
  • You are adept at managing timelines for multiple requests simultaneously, showing responsibility in meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Your attention to detail ensures accurate extraction of relevant transaction details during sampling processes, supporting reliable outcomes for investigations.
