Senior Project Manager – Commercial Drywall
Location: Huntsville, Alabama
Position Type: Full-Time

The Opportunity
Solid Rock Recruiting is partnering with an established commercial drywall contractor seeking an accomplished Senior Project Manager for its Huntsville, Alabama operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proven drywall professional who can lead multiple projects or oversee large, technically complex assignments from preconstruction through final closeout. The Senior Project Manager will direct project teams, strengthen client relationships, protect project profitability, and ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and according to the highest quality standards.
Experience with mission-critical, advanced manufacturing, data center, or other technically demanding construction projects is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multiple commercial drywall projects or large, complex assignments.
- Manage projects from preconstruction and estimating through execution and final closeout.
- Establish project budgets and contract pricing, including GMP and lump-sum work.
- Negotiate subcontractor agreements and material purchases to protect cost, schedule, and quality.
- Direct preconstruction activities and assist the estimating team as a technical resource.
- Prepare, negotiate, and issue subcontract bid packages.
- Establish procedures for timely buyout, shop drawing approval, procurement, and material delivery.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, cost controls, forecasts, and management reports.
- Review contract requirements and ensure compliance with all terms and conditions.
- Build productive relationships with owners, architects, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Partner with field leadership to develop and implement project-specific safety plans.
- Lead, train, and supervise project teams while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
- Conduct regular project meetings with management, field personnel, and subcontractors.
- Maintain accurate documentation of delays, change orders, claims, safety incidents, and other significant project events.
- Oversee quality control and protect the integrity of the completed work.
- Anticipate and resolve potential conflicts before they develop into claims or project delays.
- Complete all project closeout procedures accurately and on time.
- Deliver projects at the projected fee or better.
- Assist with business development and participate in project interviews and presentations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent commercial drywall experience.
- Eight to ten years of construction project management experience, preferably with a commercial drywall or metal framing contractor.
- Proven experience managing project teams and overseeing large or technically complex projects.
- Mission-critical or advanced manufacturing construction experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-development skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and a strong sense of urgency.
- Excellent organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
- Proficiency with construction-management software and related computer systems.
- Fundamental understanding of contract law and project accounting.
- Strong command of scheduling, cost control, procurement, estimating, change-order management, forecasting, and project closeout.
